Can I drive my mountaineer without the front driverside driveshaft.

As long as the front axle does not leak when you remove the driveshaft, I don't see why not-I used to do that on an old C30 Chevy truck in the summer years ago.

If it's 4 wheel drive, but it won't be without the front driveshaft. Newer vehicles may have issues without it if there are stability control systems or the like.

Can I Drive my 2000 Mercury Mountaineer all wheel drive 5.0 liter SUV. without the front drive shaft, can I remove it and still drive it for a week or could this damage the transfer case

it is all wheel drive so realistically the answer is ---no
However if you have a center diff lock switch to make it 4wd then --yes -- you can as that will lock up the diff in the transfer case
Will it damage the transfer case ---no--as there is no front drive shaft( you took it out) to cause a torque wind up problem in the drive train
AS to the park selection -- that is a physical connection of a pall in a ring gear in the transmission and the park action would be the same as in a 2wd vehicle
remember that is a requirement by law to engage the park brake and not to rely on the park selection of the transmission

Where is the oil pressure sensor located on the 1997 Mercury mountaineer with a 302?

Its on the front driverside of the timing cover side, sets back in there and is pain to get to, if you use a flashlight and look between the fenderwell liner and frame on the front driverside you look below the powersteering pump and above the oil filter you can see it on the side of the timing cover.

Front differential broke in my 2003 mercury mountaineer v8 how much to fix

Depends I had a whole new used one put in for 1300...I had the front diff replaced 2x and the front driveshaft 2x a Drive shaft by shaftmaster is about 340. Some type of frame tweakage that throes it off. Always make sure you have the same tread on your Mountaineer if you have AWD.

My 2004 Mercury Mountaineer will go into gear but will not move. What could be the problem

Your rear emergency brakes could be hung up. Especially if a parking valet or someone else parked it recently.

You need to jack up both rear wheels and then put your car into neutral with the motor OFF. If the rear wheels can not be manually turned it is either the emergency brakes, the differential or the transmission.

The emergency brakes require removing the back tires and rotors. If it is still locked, then it is either the differential or the trans. The driveshaft connects the trans to the differential so remove the driveshaft. If the differential turns without the driveshaft, then the trans is locked up. If the differential does not turn the problem is inside the differential.

sounds like the u-joints in the front axle are bad or were installed incorrectly they only come into play when the wheel is turned. These are the axle ujoints not the driveshaft ujoints

You have a problem in the diff. I cannot believe they replaced the drive shaft without further inspection. You are driving it so axles are O K, will be pinion brgs.

When you get under the driverside of the vehicle you will see the front driveshaft coming from the transmission to the front differential. At the two ends there will be I think 6, 8mm bolts. 12 total. Loosen them all up. To get to them by rotating the driveshaft you'll have to put the front end of the vehicle on jackstands and put the transmission in nuetral. Remimber to have the parking brake on. Once loose hit the ends of the shaft with a rubber mallet( not a steel hammer). Sometimes corrosion builds up in the joint and can make it a pain to break free. Once the joints are loose, remove the screws you loosened earlier and the shaft should come out. Good Luck
