Hi you will know if it works it don,t kick in till the engine reachs a certain rev range usually around 3000 rpm then it transferes to the hi lift cam and when it kicks in will feel like a turbos been fitted. if not you have a problem with it which would likley be a problem with its solenoid or oil pressure. yates210456

My car is a 2000 vtech honda civic. Engine light stays on even after I took the car to the mechanic and changed the oxygen sensor, which they said was the problem. I took it to another place and I am...

TELL ME WHAT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CODE YOU ARE GETTING.CODE SCAN AND TELL ME WHAT CODE YOU ARE GETTING.MOST VTECH ENGINE HAS PROBLEM WITH VTEC SOLENOID OR VTEC OIL PRESSURE SWITCH.MOST TIME CHECK THE OIL PRESSURE BY REMOVING VTEC OIL PRESSURE SWITCH FROM THE LOCK UP SOLENOID AND CONNECT AN ADAPTER BETWEEN THE SWITCH AND THE SOLENOID. BUT I CANT SAY ITS YOUR VTEC SYSTEM UNTIL YOU CODE SCAN CAR.OIL PRESSURE SHOULD BE 50 PSI @ 3000 RPM OR 85 PSI @3000 RPM.

My vtec on my 2000 honda civic si keeps going out it just happened recently. I was in fourth gear and the rpms were at about 6000 and then the check engine light came on. It came out with the code p1259,...

It's probably an oil issue. The Vtec requires a specific amount of oil pressure to work properly. You could be low on oil, you could have the wrong viscosity oil, or you could have an oil pressure problem such as a bad oil pump or worn engine bearings. Any of these will cause that code. An oil change with the proper oil would be a good place to start.

Will a cylinder head from a 1996 honda civc 1.5l non vtec work correctly on a 93 honda civic 1.5l non vtec

The 1996 civic has a 1.6L b-16 engine. The only difference between the v-tec and non v-tec engine is the dual overhead cam i believe. The 93 civic also should have a b-16 engine in it. The cylinder head should work.......

Vtec wont work

More than likely its your temp sensor on the front of the engine, Ive seen it be the cause of things similar including high idle when car first starts(happened to me when I switched out my 1.5 for 1.6 sohc vtec engine, engine was built as an automatic so i changed out the flywheel etc but no place for the sensor) and happens to be the sensor for my radiator at the same time so it controls the fan.
