Your radio has been wired to the lights. you need to run a new power wire to your radio from the fuse panel using a different fuse. do you have a spare not being used? as for the volume problem, I can't help you. This should be a simple fix. if you have the owners manual, look up the fuse for the radio(look under fuses, it will have a diagram of where the fuses are and what they are) and rewire back to that fuse. hope this helps

The radio plays full volume on right channel when turned on.

Anything I tell you is going to be a guess, since there has been no testing done, and we don't have the model number of the specific radio involved. However...
For a 20 year old radio, the volume and balance is almost certainly controlled by a potentiometer that has input into one leg of the fixed resistance, and the other leg (of the fixed resistance) is grounded. The movable center tap is the output to the amplifier - and its position controls the volume to that channel. If the ground leg becomes disconnected (broken wire, or a cold solder joint, or even a break in the resistor within the body of the potentiometer) then instead of "dividing" the volume, it simply provides a slight resistance inline - short answer: It goes full volume.
You can try running the control full range back and forth, and even just the old time "slap it" approach, to see if you get any static or change. If you do, that pretty well confirms the diagnosis. [If not, it just means the break is not close to touching - still almost certainly the right answer though.]
Only fix is going to be disassembly. You then may be able to find the break (and resolder it), and/or replace the volume potentiometer. Note that if you have remote volume/balance control (controls on the steering wheel), then there is some extra wiring that can likewise be involved. jk

1996 Goldwing. Low volume on radio, like its stuck on mute. Memory on clock goes off when it's shut off for awhile. Somebody mentioned a fuse on left side of bike, but not able to find it. 1996 Gpldwing

Take a test light and hook it up to the battery negative ($10) and check for power on both sides of the fuses with everything turned on. If a fuse has power on one side and not the other it is blown.

Bikes tend to have in-line fuses as well, and sometimes radio's have fuses plugged nto the back of them.

2008 Element EX--The radio volume goes way up on its own and the radio shifts from FM1 to FM2 to AM on its own. The volume also increases on the CD. When I turn the volume back down, it goes right back...

Check with your local Honda dealer for the latest service bulletins/news on this issue. They were replacing audio units under warranty a few years back. I don't currently work at a Honda store, so I don't have access to the latest info as of today. Also does it have steering wheel controls? They also have had issues in the past. Best bet...take it into Honda to have them check it.

What could cause the battery to run down, even when the car is not started?

Hi, First check the doors that they are closed.(so the light goes out). Check the trunk that the light is out. Check the engine hood light if any is out. Second check that battery is charged and can hold a charge. If not the battery has internal discharge. Oh and ya have the radio looked at or turn it off when you leave.
Good luck.

Volume control knob on radio turns volume up at all times

first of all if you live in a cold climate I never turn the radio on until the car warms up if you can remove the knob on the radio spray a light amount of WD 40 and then put the knob back on and turn it back and forth and if you have pop on your hand or water also dry your hands off before touching the radio the lights and the radio will last a lot longer also and also before leaving the car always remember to turn the radio off it will be alot easier on your battery as well
