1991 Toyota Supra n/a...starter problems

It seems that ever since I had the original starter replaced(aftermarket...unfortunately)....My car doesnt start all the time.....You can drive it then if you stop and turn off, it might not start.....then sometimes , you can come back and try it again and it will fire up...what gives ? .....Im thinking its the crappy starter I had installed...I hear it could be the relay switch...like the car isnt recognizing its in Park......help

Being this is an older car it could also be your ignition switch. I would start there as this sounds exactly like an ignition switch. If when it doesn't start you hear nothing, no clicks, starter trying to start etc, I would replace the ignition switch. It's not expensive and if you talk to the guys at the parts store they can give you a good idea how to do it. They will likely even let you look at a Hayes book in the store to see how it's done. It's really very simple.

I have a 91 toyota pickup. It has a starting problem mostly when I do alot of stop, shop , and go. I replaced starter, starter relay, starter ignition, clean + battery cable, - ground cable, and check...

not sure how similar it is but I had a supra of the same year with the same issues. It ended up being a bad connection where the chassis harness met the engine harness. I bypassed this section and the issue was resolved.

Where is the fuel filter in a 1991 toyota supra located?

I couldn't find data on this one, but check underneath the car around the gas tank and under the hood near the throttle body or carburetor if so equipped.

91 Toyota Supra rear vibration

I have a similar problem with my car and it is linked to the rear trailing arm bushes which cause the rear tyres to warp on the inner side of the tyre wall which makes this wuring noise at certain speeds so have them checked out!

1991 toyota supra blue smoke from tail pipe when get of the gas

The intake valve guide seals are worn and are letting oil slip by under high engine vacuum--as when you let up on the gas. The only fix is to take the cylinder head off and replace the valve guide seals. This problem is pretty normal for an older car with high mileage. It will probably run just fine. Just keep checking the oil level and keep it topped up.

Same 1991 w/starting problem

open the door and listen for a click from under the car (starter solenoid). If you hear that click, along with the one coming from
the glove compsartment(starter relay), it's the wire between the starter solenoid and the relay...If you only hear the one click from the glove compartment( it's actually in the passengers door pillar), it's the starter relay ($15)
