Run around. They leak where they are crimped together. They are $55 at the zone. Mine leaked and I replace the one that was leaking with a used one. All six would not be bad at once. Get another mechanic as these are not difficult to replace.

common problem in these is whats called the fuel injection spider. the hoses leak and you smell gas, causes rich running, misfires etc. its located under the plenum so not fun to repair

I smell gas when driving my 97 land rover discovery. I do already know I need a fuel pump. Is the gas coming from too much being injected into the engine, thus leaking out because of the bad fuel pump?...

I know that if a fuel pressure regulator is bad it will emit the fuel smell under hood. but just be sure you have no fuel leaks in the fuel lines first. good-day !

I have a 2000 Intrepid, and recently it's been smelling of gas. It's not leaking, but i can still smell it. What is the problem and how do I fix it?

if there is definitely no fuel leak then it may be the emission system evap system, venting to the atmosphere and not being held within the evap emission system.this could be a vacuum control valve not working properly or a hose cracked or has come of its mounting, the computer system should be checked for a possible code, and repaired depending where the code leads to,the gas cap can also be not securely fastened or the gas cap seal in poor condition allowing gas vapors to vent.you could have a small fuel leak under the hood seaping past a seal.

I just filled my gas tank up in my 97 oldsmobile aurora, the 1st time that i have in about a year, after i did i drove to a school, and noticed smoke or steam coming from other hood, water (Large coolant...

You may have an issue with either dry rot of the rubber hoses or possibly a varmit got under the hood and chewed holes in hoses or wiring (happens all the time to vehicles stored for long periods of time).-Your fuel injection hoses up top pressurize to over 40 psi, so they need to be in good condition. If you are leaking fuel, do not drive it until you replace the leaking hoses, and driving an aluminum engine that is low or out of coolant is pretty much asking for disaster-better to get it towed and repaired.

My car has a strong gas smell on the right side of my car. We jacked it up and noticed it was wet underneath the car. My gas miles have been good & it doesnt look like im loosing any gas quick it just...

don't know year make model but if you can smell gas and you see wetness underneath you should have it checked out. a small leak even though your not loosing much gas can be deadly especially if vehicle is in a garage or closed area cause the gas vapor is more of a problem than raw gas. there are lots of places that the leak could be coming from tank, lines, filter, evap system or the charcoal canister. much better to be safe than sorry, no need to have a major problem (possibly life threatening) develop over something that may be able to be fixed before hand.

Fuel smell in 2005 , f-150 just when I stop at a stop light, cannot smell when driving. Very heavy fuel smell.

If it is fuel injected, I would inspect the injection system. I had an injector that was leaking an puddling gas on the valve cover area. If not that, then generally check around for a leak in the fuel system / tank.

Gas smell in car

There is a recall on the fuel rail for your vehicle. In my case I had 2 leaking fuel injectors. The intake manifold needs to come off, but it pretty easy to change the o-rings on the leaking injectors. Costs is about $25 for the new o-ring and about 2 hours of your time.

2002 mazda miata mx5 has strong gasoline smell in trunk. Had smoke test done at dealership and showed no leaks. Help.

The fill pipe is right back there. Check to see if a hose has been damaged. Check the spout area, is there a overflow pipe or a seam that could be leaking into the trunk?

Engine light on, codes PO455 and PO411 pulled.

P0411 Secondary Air Injection System Incorrect Flow Detected and P0455 Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (Large Leak). These 2 particular codes are sometimes inter-related.

With a p0455, the most common repair is to:
  • Remove and reinstall the gas cap, clear the codes, and drive for a day and see if the codes come back.
  • Otherwise, replace the gas cap, and/or
  • Inspect the EVAP system for cuts/holes in tubes/hoses (you may hear a vacuum noise or smell fuel), repair if necessary
Let me know if you have anymore questions!

Sincerely,

JC
