Question about 2005 Kia Rio

1 Answer

I have a 2005 kia rio...................i recently replaced the starter because of a clicking sound when I tried to start it.....after I did that I got the same sound......I then took the starter and battery which was new in to be checked and both were bad......got new starter and battery installed and still got the same clicking sound. I noticed that when I attempted to turn on the ignition the battery cables were getting hot.....I then replaced the entire wiring harness and the starter relay.....I am still getting the same clicking sound from the starter it sounds as if the starter will not engage with the flywheel. I am just at a loss at what it could be......what might be the the problem.....thx

Earth lead might need cleaning where it joins the metal of the car or the battery terminals also check the anti theft cut off

Engine lockdown

This may sound stupid but it WILL work. Have someone locate the starter. Tap it with a hammer while someone cranks over the key. If it starts it is the solenoid. Most come with the new starters. To make sure the engine is not locked up, put a socket on the Generator pulley or whatever you can and try to turn it clockwise. If it turns the engine is OK.

Kia rio wont start all of the sudden not the battery

If you can hear a clicking sound when turn the key and your battery is charged, your problem could be starter or ignition key switch.

Check aftermark or antitheft system there.

The clicking sound is either coming from the starter relay or the starter solenoid switch. If the starter makes no click then it has to come off and get new brusjhes put in it or have the solenoid replaced. You can check it by jumping the post with the battery cable fastened to it to the smaller post with the small wire on it either with a small screwdriver or a piece of wire.If it goes then, then you need the relay,if it does nothing then you need to fix the starter.

My 2004 kia rio wont start it just clicks when trying. we changed the starter and it didnt fix it

Use a multimeter to test the main wire that goes to the starter that should have 12v all the time. The small wire that goes to solenoid should have 12v when you crank, which sounds like you are getting because the solenoid is what clicks. So it may just be a bad connection between the positive cable and the connection to the starter. Test everything with a multimeter then let me know and I will respond promptly.

Lee

2004 Kia Rio Won't Start Clicking Noise Battery is GOOD

My 2004 Kia Rio just started losing compression and died on me. I tried starting it and it only clicks. I checked the battery cables and they are not corroded and very tight. Could it be the battery or the alternator not charging the battery? there is no water in the oil and it's not the water pump.
