My 96 started out that way, then got worse and worse. Got all kinds of trouble codes, like multiple misfires, maf sensor bad, map sensor, O2senssor rich. Turned out to be the distributor cap and rotor. Rotor had carbon track on the backside. Other than that, they looked perfect. New ones solved the problem and all the trouble codes went away. All that misfiring was causing all the sensors to throw false codes. I figured out I needed to look for something not so obvious when the $100 maf didn;t change a thing.

going to ask a scary question, no insult intended. have you checked the OIL when was it last changed. Air filter fuel injected system uses air filter was it changed last... fuel filter, not sure how many it has, may want to have that checked. spark plugs have them checked look at them, they maybe fowled. so here is a link that address the issue.....

air flow mass sensor is flowed up dirt gets in and causes it to respond very slow... good luck..........

I have a 1998 gmc jimmy 4.3 6cylinder 4x4 I blew

What I've seen done to test an injector is to pull it, and swap it for another cylinder. If the miss moves, then the injector is bad. If the miss stays on #5, then the problem isn't the injector.

I have a 97 4 door jimmy. just replaced the fuel pump and it is workingI I checked the filter and it is not cloged. What else should I check

Depends, You say your fuel pump has been replaced & is working. You do not describe what the "Issue" is. Lack of performance, acceleration ? Is this a situation, where the engine starts & "idles" but, does nothing else?? When you depress the acceleration/gas pedal the car begins to speed up, then abruptly die? If this is your problem, is it a 2.8 V6, 3.6 V6.????? Engine size was also not listed. If it has an abrupt stop when depressing the fuel pedal. Then comes up to speed & stays at speed until taking your foot off: 1.) look for a stuck or "sticking" EGR valve as it is in constant comunication with the ECM, giving instructions to the fuel rail/injector components. 2.) Check the OHM's on the IAC component (Idle Air Control) it is a small oval shaped sensor/control directly on the side of the Throttling body, on both FI (fuel Injected via carburetor,or a MPI Plenum) The other cause, is this has happened is a broken vacuum line at the EGR valve PCV Valve, break in a larger vacuum line such as the one to Power Brake booster.

1997 F-350 Ford Powerstroke4x4 Crew Cab Diesel 83k miles. Truck runs fine while cold. When it starts reaching normal operating temp it starts missing and loosing power when accelerating. Truck idles fine....

Have you changed your oil? Rotella 15W-40. These engines really don't like old oil. It becomes too thick for the injection pump to work correctly. Another possibility is a bad cam sensor on the front of the motor. Most engines call this the crank sensor but on this engine you have to look it up as a cam sensor.

97 Sunfire Dies at Stop Lights, Doesn't want to Accelerate

When was the last time you had the timing belt replaced. Just occasionally, worn timing belts can jump a tooth, resulting in retarded ignition and/or retarded valve timing.
