Question about 2003 Nissan Pathfinder
Sounds as if you have a bad ground. Take a 5 or 6ft peice of wire scrape off paint,rust,undercoatting ect off frame on trailer and car. Take visegrips or c clamp and connect one end of wire to trailer frame where you cleaned and the other end to car frame where you cleaned. Check lights they should work now. If so clean where your trailer cord ground connects to frame or find broken ground.

Your trailer connector is wired wrong or shorted. Check the connections at the car.
