Question about 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

2 Answers

I have a trac an 02, my brother used the vehicle while I was on a deployment. I came back he said when he parked the vehicle and stepped on the e-brake, (it's a stick shift) the brake pushed to far down and could not be released. How can I get this done? It seems too expensive to even take it any where around where I live.

This is only a suggestion ok? If you have a e-brake pedal and it was stomped on too hard try this. Step on the e-brake pedal with enough of pressure as if you are putting it on harder and try releasing it at the same time. What you are doing is releasing pressure on the release mechanism. You have to put pressure equal or more than what is on it to release the e-brake. If this works them spray WD40 on the release mechanism and tell bro easy does it.
Good luck and thanks for your question and I hope my suggestions help. burdfrenzy

You could try going under rig and try undoing or loosening parking brake cables. They go to rear wheels. Usually 1 long one from front going to a turnbuckle then splitting into two cables, one to each rear wheel.

When I turn the steering wheel the low trac light

The steering wheel position, wheel speed sensors, and ABS systems are all used to provide traction control. You likely have a failure of one or more systems. Scan the ABS system and it will provide codes to help the diagnosis. Wheel speed sensors fail often, and it is likely one or more of these is contributing to the problem.

Running board stopped working

More than likely you accidentally disabled the feature if you have already checked the fuses and they are good.
Your owners manual tells you how to re-enable the power deploying running boards .
I'll paste a copy of the directions for you :
***********copy***********

Enable/disable:
To enable/disable the power running board feature, refer to the Message
center in this chapter.
• When this feature is disabled <OFF>, the running boards will move to
the stowed position regardless of the position of the doors.
• When this feature is enabled <AUTO>, the running boards will move
back to the correct positions based off of the door positions.

(Message Center )

Setup menu
Press this control for the following
displays:
• Reset to English (if in another
language)
• System Check
• Oil Life
• Units (English/Metric)
• Autolamp Delay (if equipped)
• Easy/Entry Exit
• Air Suspension (if equipped)
• Autolock (if equipped)
• Power Liftgate (if equipped)
• Power Deployable Running Boards (if equipped)
• Compass Zone (if equipped)
• Compass Calibration (if equipped)
• Language

Power Deployable Running Boards (if equipped)
This feature automatically deploys the side running boards for easy
entry/exit from the vehicle or for cleaning.
1. To disable/enable the power
running board feature with the
vehicle in P (Park), select this
function from the SETUP control for
the current display mode.
2. Press the RESET control to select the running boards setting as
follows:
• AUTO: the running boards will automatically deploy when a door is
opened and automatically retract when the door is closed,
• OUT: the running boards will remain deployed regardless of the doors
being open/closed. This setting can be used when washing the vehicle, or
accessing the roof rack. The running boards will stow and enter AUTO
mode when the vehicle speed exceeds 5 mph ( kph),
• OFF: the running boards will remain IN regardless of the doors being
open/closed.

Let me know how this turns out.

02 330i drivers door airbag deployed, dealer saying it needs a new door panel,I disagree, looks like the panel is fine & can be used after a new air bag is set in. Any advice here?

the door panel needs to be replaced to correctly fix it. I guess you could go and glue the door panel back together. The dealership is going to put the vehicle back into factory condition. Usually when side air bags blow, the way the door panel is meant to tear it would make sense just to glue it back together as long as the leather doesn't tear
