Question about 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier Coupe

1 Answer

I have a 2004 Chevy Cavalier, the front end humms as I travel forward but the humming stops as I steer to the right, when I straighten out the humming starts again. Is this the CV axles going out? I noticed that as I slow the car its starting to making clicking sounds. The clicking sounds slows down as the car slows down. Is this the CV axels?

The humming sounds like a wheel bearing problem cavaliers are notorious for the bearings going out i have changed many of them, i would change both front wheel bearings at the same time and not just one it will save you in the long run. hope this helped

Steering not straightening out at slow speed

Worn steering components which allow the steering wheels to travel too far either way,hop underneath and get a friend to move the steering while you have a look for movement between the components, or a power steering component like relief valve. Its a bit hard to know without seeing the vehicle, i suggest a steering and suspension specialist like pedders or similar. These guys can do a safety inspection only, if you want to do the work yourself. Cheers Timo.

I have a 1989 chevy K-5 blazer, and sometimes when turning I go to straighten the wheel and they dont respond right away. Causing me to over steer in the other direction. Is this in the steering box?

Check your steering kuckle located above gear box on shaft that goes to steering wheel, while some one turn's wheel a little back & forth and check for slack, Also check front end linkage for looseness, don't forget wheel bearings.

1998 chevy cavalier 2.2l wheel noise

usually if noise is made when turning right it would be the right wheel bearing easiest way to check would be to lift the car off the ground on that side until tire clears the ground and spin the wheel to see if it makes noise also try grabbing the wheel on the top and bottom at the same time and see if you can move the wheel back and forth checking for slack.
