The best idea for draining the gas tank on a 1998 Ford Explorer is to remove the gas tank out from the vehicle.

The gas tank on a 1998 Ford Explorer stores the fuel used by the engine. Inside the fuel tank is the fuel sender and pump, both of which may require maintenance at some point or another. When they do, the tank has to come out so that you can properly access those components. Although it's awkward to do, removing the gas tank is not technically difficult and can be done in about an hour with the proper tools.

1. Crawl underneath the SUV and locate the fuel tank next to the rear axle. Unbolt the skid plate, if so equipped, with a 3/8-inch ratchet and socket.
2. Remove the fuel filler neck from the gas tank with a flat head screwdriver. Place a wood block on the head of a jack and lift it up until the wood contacts the base of the gas tank.
3. Unbolt the straps securing the tank to the chassis with the 3/8-inch ratchet, extension and sockets. Slowly lower the tank until you can access the top of the gas tank. Remove the fuel lines from the sender with the flat head screwdriver and unplug the wiring. Lower the tank the rest of the way, holding it steady with one hand.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Never smoke or have an open flame nearby while you're working on the fuel system of a vehicle. If you do, you risk causing a fire and damaging yourself and the vehicle.

How do you change a transfer case in a 1999 Ford Explorer Eddie Baur edition?

Well, you unbolt the old one and take it out, but you knew that...The issue here is the weight, you really need a trans jack to get these components out, and it is tons easier in a lift. You may be happier having a shop do this job.

I have a 1998 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer 4 door. Recently, my roommate (the car buff) and I replaced the subwoofer. Now my battery is being drained. Things work fine once jumped. Can turn the car off and...

If it's a powered subwoofer yes. Powered subs draw alot of power, and if you wired it direct, yes it can drain your battery down. You need to wire it to a source that is powered only when key is on.
