Engine malfunction amber warning light

I suggest scanned the computer car in order to know what fault code is stored there; note this code number for additional diagnostic details.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

How to remove an amber warning light from the display on the engine management system ie override it!

Wrong answer, you need to fix whatever is causing the light to illuminate. You need the management system to work in order to have engine longevity and reasonable economy. What you need to do is have the error codes extracted from the system computer, remembering that the code is a CLUE and not necessarily causing the issue.

The red light is for warning the amber is for caution so your caution light is on thats the amber the amber is reserved for local market like brake pads, oil change,or abs that affects steering stability, The information is exclusive only your driver handbook will define it

What does an orange diagram of engine light means when it shows off

The amber colored engine lamp means that something is wrong with either the engine or transmission systems. Input sensors monitor the engine and transmission to be sure they are within factory specifications. With this information the computer can adjust things like fuel control, idle speeds, transmission shift points etc. If an input or output is not working correctly the computer will sense this an throw an engine lamp on the inform you that there is a concern. In most cases the computer will use information from other sensors to keep the vehicle running until repairs are made. In more serious cases, the computer will flash the engine lamp and/or put the vehicle in fail safe mode. Fail safe mode will limit the amount of fuel to the fuel injectors and sometimes limit the transmission speeds and throttle response. You need to have codes retrieved either from a dealer, service station or auto parts store. The auto parts store will usually do it for free but their tester may not pull all codes. Good luck.

My 2001 XJ8L has had the amber "check engine"

Have you tried to get any codes off the check engine light?

Turned car on and it rattles and warning light comes on which resembles an engine.

It's the CEL (check engine light). If the car isn't under warranty, there are numerous reasons why this light comes on, I suggest you purchase a Peake R5 - FCX3-16 tester (they run about 140.00 I believe). It might sound pricey; however, not knowing what exactly is wrong with the unit and leaving it to a mechanic to determine may be more costly in the long run. The Peake tool is much better than a generic testers because it's specifically designed for BMW codes. Once you have the error code, you can go to a BMW forum (such as Bimmerfest) to find how others have solved the problem in the past. I know this is a generic answer but given the hundreds of code possibilities this needs to be done first. Hope this helps!

Jag X-Type 2.0 V6 Auto (2002). Amber engine icon lit and aircon switches itself on. No loss of power/drives great. Temperature gauge appears all normal. After a while aircon switches itself off again -...

The Amber Engine Icon means the same as a Check Engine Light. Your car's ECM (Computer) has stored a Trouble Code, and you will need a OBD II Reader (On- Board Diagnostic) to get the code so you can diagnose what is wrong with your vehicle. You can go to any AutoZone and they can read the code for you at no charge. You will need to diagnose and fix the problem before the Check Engine Light will turn off.
