Question about 2004 Jaguar X-Type

1 Answer

Here's the problem with this 04 XJ8. The high beams will light up but they won't stay on unless you continue to hold the the switch. The low beams work fine until you turn the right turn signal on then they go out completely, till you return the turn signal to off. I don't even know where to start. I did check all the fuses and the checked out. Thanks for listening, Jim PS the fog lights will not come on.

06 Wrangler Tj. The High Beams stay on, and when I pull the switch, the high beams stay on. Low beams never come on. Could there be something wrong with the lights or the multifunctional switch

Its sounds more consistent w a switch problem but make sure u are getting voltage at the headlight connectors when they are not on before convicting the switch or lights. Both lights rarely go out at the same time unless an electrical short is the cause,

Headlights wont turn

sounds like the headlight switch is defective and needs replacing, but you need to check to make sure the rod that the switch pushes against if make the full travel and not short as this will not allow the switch to change from low beam to high beam.if the rod is travelling the full length then the switch is no good.you should also hear a click when moving the arm to go from low to high if not then the switch is bad.by holding the lever at a certain position to get the high beams to work this also indicates a switch problem.

I have a 1995 Ford Explorer Limited and the high beams work but the low beams and fog lights do not, please help....

These trucks are known for bad multifuction switches.
the switch that i talk of is the signal switch , the handle is the switch, it bolts to side of steering column . this switch controls the signals and the headlights and high /low beams. the other thing is the headlight switch connector, the connector some times goes bad and starts to melt or just comes out of the connector. you will need to remove the cover to steering column, the screws are located under the bottom cover in holes. remove cover and check connector and then test for power if you have power going into switch but not coming out then switch is bad.

the last thing is to make sure the bulbs are good , make sure the headlight bulbs are good , and also the driving light bulbs, test for power at the connectors to those lights to.
You will need to do a little testing to find the problem.

My daytime running lights work, high beams will come on but switch wont stay on, have to hold it. Low beams do not work and daytime running light dash indicator stays on all the time. Is it a relay or...

if you have to hold the switch so the high beams stay on then that indicates a bad/worn switch, you could have 2 problems the day time running light relay may have a problem with it.i would first replace the headlight switch at the base of the steering colume as by the info you supply its not changing to the high beam side without holding the switch in position.
