Question about Honda Civic

2 Answers

I have a 2 in 1 prostart remote car starter. It was installed a few days ago on my standard honda civic. Sometimes it works fine, but most often when i try to start it with the starter the lights will flash, you hear the car trying to start itself then it will give up and the lights will flash 3 times. I've tried several times in a row when the car was already warm. When I put the key in the ignition it start fine. I need to know what the problem could be.

Dear,
Check if the remote Battery is genuine (I mean full) other wise maybe it's a relay issue or timer issue in the module itself (which you installed).

First this is dangerous to hook to a manual transmission, if you leave it in gear by mistake the car will take off,is there a chip in the key, if your car has a chip in the ignition switch then you will need to add a key module to starter module of the alarm/starter,heres a quick thing you can try, put the key in the ignition and see if it starts and if it does then you will know its the key chip.

When installing my remote start, car die when I press unlock button on the remote

the problem is you. (sorry, but it sure is)
you cut up your cars primary wiring and wonder why it wont start?
worse yet, no plan, no factory drawing of stock wiring with your
cuts, and jumps and mods. so , how on earth can any one help here.
no way.
does your car have an Immobiizer option? and you want to fool it
you do know it can tell you are stealing the car, that is
you mimic the theft with remote start hacks.
first learn how the car works, then hack it, if must.
see?
most immo's monitor doors, and illegal starter hot wiring.
i bet the IMMO lamp glowed and told you its, Immobliziing.
did it? (called theft LED in dash gauge)
the systems are complex there , IMMO, ECU, keysystem. etc.
if serious on making this work , join a real real honda civic forum
and post how to put in remote start on your 02,
it can be done i bet,but it may kill the IMMO feature. whole or in part.

Try turning the Prostart off, then on with the little toggle switch. Check that the hood pin switch is working as it should

You should probably have your ignition switch changed. I replaced the main relay and the fuel pump, then ignition switch. Then had to have my transmission rebuilt.

Nissan Altima 2000 Manual. Recently had remote starter installed and was working fine for a few days. This morning I remote started the vehicle and when I came out car was off. Try starting the car up...

the remote starter is not going to damage the starter, but if wired wrong it could damage the wiring or fuses, or run the battery down from a short.

Starting problems

if this problem persists then you could check a few things on it, like on the times when its not even making a noise when trying to turn the key, use rubber/wooden object and tap the starter motor but not touching the contacts on the back. if this amkes it spring into life then it will be your starter motor if this does nothing then it will be a dodgy battery supply. does it also make like a screaching noise while trying to start? if so then definitely your starter motor
