No fuel and no spark

fuel pump , fuel pump relay on fire wall, fuel filter, may all need replaced, pump in tank, inspect all wiring in this circuit, especially all grounds,, grounds get overlooked & that is sometimes the problem. I have a 1988 gmc 2500, I 'm talking from experience. can you hear if fuel pump runs for 2 seconds, when you turn key on ? if not, ground problem or pump problem. relay has a fuse in it, check that. check all fuses. NOW, spark ! coil ? plug wires ? distributor cap & rotor ? replace them if you haven't !!!!!!!!!! get to work, see how you do ! good luck !

Extra work when replacing timing belt? What is recommended?

If you went from 1997 until now, someone up there
is looking over your car,if you never broke that belt

Do the water pump & belt, too much work to go back
in there for a water pump a year or two from now.

Spark plugs-- I do every 3 years
Brake Fluid Every 2 years
Trans & Power Steering Fluid every 3 years, or you
will have major & expensive repairs

the fuel pump fuse is fuse #1 15amp in the inside fuse box ( left side of dash behind fuse box cover ) the fuel pump relay is behind left side of dash ------- cavity #2 & #5 at the relay should have battery voltage in start and run cavity # 3 is the power out to fuel pump and cavity #1 is the ground that is turned on by the on board commputer.

do you have compression on every cylinder? that may be your problem, that's the suggestion i'll make. pull each spark plug one at a time and do a compression check to make sure you have compression. if you don't have the tool, they are not that expensive to purchase. hope this helps you out!! although, if you do this test and it's good compression, i would lean more towards it could be out of time. meaning it could possibly have jumped time but you said the belt was good, it could have jumped a tooth or two which would mean a no start also.

Not getting any fuel to thottle body

1st i would like to ask, is your car a carburetor type engine or an electronic fuel injected. if you have a carburetor and assuming your fuel pump is working properly, you may have a clog carburetor. just clean it and better replace your carburetor gasket and repair kit. this job is not a DIY, let an expert do it for you. if you have an electronic fuel injection, its more complicated situation coz EFI system are controlled by an ECM electronic control module. have your vehicle service by an autorize auto repair shop tha uses a scan tool or diagnostic tool to find fix the problem.
