Do you know why the light is on? The light comes on cause a fault has been detected in your ABS system. Not taking care of the problem will only ensure that the light will come back if reset. Have your vehicle scanned and post your findings. Also look at the wiring for the front wheel bearings if you find any of the wires broken this is most likely why your ABS light is on. Broken abs wires is a common issue.
What this means is that the abs module is seeing a problem in the abs system. This has nothing to do with the regular brakes. What you need to do is get the codes from the abs module and this will help in finding what could be causing the light to come on.When the abs light comes on the regular brakes will work normally but your abs brakes will be disabled.Let me know what codes you find and I can help or explain what the cause could be.Good luck.
