    I found my own problem, the previous owner actually pulled some of the pins out of the ic chip that works the digital odometer. That is why it wont work. Thank you all any way.

I have a 2003 ford escape & the digital odometer doesn't work correctly

Have the dealer do a speedometer accuracy test. They have a special tool that can electronically read the speed and then compare it to the readout of the odometer.

1988 Chevy pickup odometer doesn't work

they are spring loaded and mechanical. if a spring wears out or breaks it won't work. you can replace it with another one but the actual miles won't be there or you could go with a digital set.

My 1999 GMC Sonoma speed odometer doesn't work, all other dash functions work. What could be wrong?

First, there are three different sound systems available for a 2003 Oldsmobile Bravada. The wiring diagrams are completely different for each of them. The options are:

> Base Radio WITH Rear Seat Audio
> Base Radio WITHOUT Rear Seat Audio
> Preminum Sound Radio (seperate amplifier)

NONE of these systems have ANYTHING to do with the speedometer other than the fact that the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) gets its speed information from the Body Control Module (BCM) and all three of these possible sound systems also tie into the BCM.

The only thing I can guess is that your aftermarket installation is completely unable to communicate with the BCM as it is supposed to, and is also interfering with data communications between the BCM and the IPC.

The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) also communicates with the BCM and needs this information to control the engine and transmission properly. If you have engine control codes, I would recommend that you THOROUGHLY investigate and repair these before doing any thing else to your vehicle. Also, you need to scan the rest of the modules in your vehicle to see if it can be determined what is going on. I am willing to bet that your system is full of "U" codes, indicating network communications failures.

Check engine light comes on flashes 3 times

first you have to diagnose the cause of trouble.
How to get the codes on a 1998-1999 Dakota: Depress the trip reset and trip/odometer switches, and, while holding them, turn the ignition to ON/RUN, and wait about 5 seconds. This sends the car through a short self-test sequence that lights all segments of the odometer and shift selector read-out (where applicable). It will then display the stored error codes.
If that doesn't work, try holding in the trip/odometer button while doing the key on/off cycle 3 time. If that doesn't work, some people have reported success by doing the key on/off cycle 10 times instead of 3.
you are unable to pull the trouble codes yourself, wether it be because you aren't doing the procedure right or perhaps your truck doesn't have that feature, most auto parts stores have scanners and will pull your trouble codes for free. I know for sure that Autozone does this, and have heard that many others do as well. (They do this for free because they are hoping that if it turns out to be a bad oxygen sensor, for example, that you will purchase an oxygen sensor from them.) You can also purchase a scanner of your own;

My toyota corolla 2006 model has the maint. required lights on. what does that mean?

It means your car needs an oil change, based on mileage. If you take your car to get the oil changed, they can reset the light for you. If you want the light off now, try holding in the odometer reset button, with the key on but engine off, until little dashes appear then one by one dissapear. This procedure may need to be done either on the odometer total mileage or trip A mileage or trip B mileage.

Step 1: Have car off.

Step 2: Push and hold in trip reset button.

Step 3: While still holding button in, turn key to ON, but engine off. Wait for the little dashes to appear and disapear. If it doesn't work on the odometer setting. before turning key off, switch to Trip A setting. If the procedure doesn't work on the odometer setting or Trip A, try Trip B setting.

Step 4: Turn key off. Then start car. Maint. required light should be off.

Maint. req. light blinks 10 times after start up?

When a Honda Maint Req light blinks, but then stops, it is telling you to change your oil. If you don't change it, eventually, the maint req light will stay on. Here is how you reset the maint req light: 1) Turn they key to the II position
2) Turn the key to the off position, and push and hold in the odometer reset button
3) Turn they key back to the II position, while still holding the odometer button.
4) After about 10-15 seconds, the light should go off.

If that doesn't work, try it this way: p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 12.0px Verdana}

With the igniition off, press and hold the odometer button, turn the key to the "on" position, but do not start the car. Keep the odometer button down until the oil light begins and ends flashing. Turn the key off, and then start car to see if it worked or not.
