Question about 1998 Nissan Frontier

1 Answer

My truck keeps dying. I will be riding down the road and come to a red light or stop sign it will die but it will crank right back up. When i drive about 50mph it will hesitate and want to give up but it won't die until I am practically idling. I have changed the fuel filter, map sensor, and i have cleaned the intake part of the enging with carb cleaner.

I have a 2004 gmc sierra 4.8 truck for 3 years it idles down too low and dies at red lights stop signs or when you let foot off gas but put in neutral and it cranks back with no problem, Why?

First off is the check engine light lit ? Do know if Your vehicle has Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) drive by wire -electronic throttle control . It's all electronically controlled . They do get problems like your having because the throttle plate needs to be cleaned !

2006 Sportage. Why does it shut down randomly?

Many possibilities. The fact that it starts right back up does eliminate some issues though. Probably best to use a scan tool that allows real time data while driving to catch the exact failure. Could be dirty IAC or EGR. Could be wiring/connection fault. Could be signs of soon to fail fuel pump.

Died and wont crank

If it died and won't crank, sounds like you lost power to something.
Does the warning lights come on when you turn the key on ?
Got headlights ?
A mechanic would check for voltage at the starter and work back from there.

Sounds like you need a fuel pump. There is an access panel in the floor of the car to get to the pump.
