I have a 1989 ford ranger that doesn't have voltage to the starter relay. Where could the problem be or is there a relay fuse that could stop the power to the relay

Battery power is usually connected directly to the starter. To make the engine crank there must be a way to energize the starting solenoid of the starter. Most probably the starting relay has a problem(loose or burned connection), the starting switch or the wiring from the switch going to the starter relay and going to the starter solenoid switch. If I am not mistaken if you open the front hood you will see a set of fuse and look for a knife fuse that is usually 15 to 30 ampere, if its not there it must be located at the dashboard. You will also notice a marking on the fuse cover to where the fuse belongs. Hopes this helps.

Yes there is for fuse to the starter, it's under the driver's side dash. you will need a diagram of the fuses [ in the owner's manual or on-line at the Ford web site. good luck

98 ford ranger 4cyl 5 speed. When u turn the key to on position I get no warning lights on dash except battery light and seatbelt light. Nothing else.truck wont start. Dont even click.

Check the batter voltage first. If not that check fuse panel under hood for a 100 amp fuse check to see if the fuse is bad or if it has power. Also check fuseable link wire at starter to see if wire is still good. If it is bad, internal short possible on starter, take out and test it. Replace fusible link.

For ranger new starter wont stop running

Starter Relay The starter motor solenoid relay switch (11450) consists of a pull-in coil, a contact disc, and two terminal contacts. Battery voltage is always present at the relay positive terminal. When the ignition switch (11572) is in the START position, the pull-in coil is activated and pulls the contact disc into contact with both terminal contacts. This allows battery current to pass through the starter motor solenoid relay switch to the starter solenoid (11390). The starter solenoid is deactivated when the ignition switch is in the RUN or OFF position.
Maybe something is hooked up wrong ! Or the starter relay is bad

How do you check a 1989 ford ranger starter relay

Try quickly turning your key to the start position and back to the on/run position. Your truck is like mine, if you have a quick hand turning the key to start your truck it will start normally. Honestly that's the best solution. Hopefully I explained myself thoroughly.

Fuse# 24 blows on 95 ford ranger every time turn ignition switch

There is a starter relay in the circuit in addition to the starter solenoid.
If you have replaced the components, I would guess the problem is in the harness or a connector.

The starter seems to be engaging, even without the key in. I just replaced the starter with a new one about a month ago. I disconnected the battery to stop it. if I try to reconnect the battery it sparks...

Try the starter solenoid, the contacts may be welded in it. I am not sure if the Ford Ranger has a starter relay also in the fuse box. If the starter solenoid is good then it could be the starter relay has contacts welded. Please rate my answer so I am rewarded points for it.

My 89 ford ranger will some times stall and not start back. You can turn key but fuel pump doesn't start but next day it may run fine

I would suspect a bad eec relay. These used to go out commonly, and the eec relay is what powers up the fuel pump relay.

Location of fuel pump relay on 89 ford ranger 2.9 v6

It's powered by fuse #1 in the battery fuse box, so I would think it should be right there somewhere. If it isn't labeled, see if you can turn the box over to see where fuse #1 leads to.
