Ok i have the same body make model you do and i replaced my air filter and it is the correct one the airfilter when i saw it i thought the same but i got mine from vw dealer.
1. Make sure the car is off and the key is out of the ignition.
2. Make sure the engine is cold.
3. Disconnect the MAF and air intake sensors on the right side of the engine.
4. Pull the battery cover out.
5. Pull the air intake duct off (have fun with that large metal clamp...)
6. Unscrew (Torx10) the air feeding tube from the front (right side).
7. Pull the engine cover straight up - there are 4 rubber-suspended "legs" holding it. Pull the fronts first, from the corners. Pull the rears up too - wear gloves, can hurt yourself due to the force required.
8. The air filter is in the back section of the engine cover, on the underside. There are 5 screws to undo (no need to take them out, just un-screw). The air filter cover swings on rear hinges.
9. Put back in reverse order (filter, cover on engine, air intake duct, air feed tube screws, 2 connectors, battery cover).

Hi, I don't have specific knowledge of your model but there will be a black plastic box - usually on the left hand side of the engine compartment - with a 2" or 3" diameter flexible pipe which leads to either the turbo of inlet manifold area. The top of the box will probably be secured down with over-centre clips. Therein will lie the filter.
Hope this helps, D.

Where is the air filter and how to change filter on 2007 vw jetta

The air filter is on the Engine cover. You need to remove that cover by pulling up (make sure you unplug the map sensor carefully and disconnect the air ducts. one has a clump the other one has 2 thorx screws near to the radiator.) once you have removed the cover turn it up side down and there are 5 phillip head screws. Removed them to remove the filter cover and get to the filter.
thanks

How to change air filter for 2007 volkswagen jetta ,2.5

Hi, on the VW Jetta 2006 to 2009, the cabin filter is underneath the glove box so lay down on the floor and look under to see the 2 plastic screws. Access is gained by removing two plastic screws and gently pulling down a piece of foam insulation. Once the insulation is removed you can see the filter 8 inch long by 2 inch wide black plastic face plate. You must slide the face plate toward the passenger side door.

The face plate will now come off and the filter will still be inside and you will have to pull it down. Debris will come out onto the floor mat below. Insert the new cabin filter, put the face plate back up an slide toward he drivers side to lock in place. Replace the insulation, re-screw the 2 screws, and you're back in business with fresh air and clean hands besides!

Take care

Change audi a3 air filter?

You can find an instruction video on how to change an air filter at: http://www.videojug.com/film/how-to-change-your-air-filter

I'm not sure wether you mean 1) "changing the original filter for a fresh one" or 2) "change the air filter to a different sporty type" (like i.e. an open air filter).

Either way it's pretty simple: the most important part is finding the correct filter for your car (model, type, year). A paper replacement filter (the same as the factory one) costs around 20 euro's and lasts around 30 000km, a more sporty cotton/foam one with improved airflow and durability costs around 60~70 euro (will last a life time, although needs cleaning every 50 000km) and might sound a little sportier.

Then find the airbox (which in your case is the big box on right with a big hose on the left, in front of the battery, can't miss). Unscrew the 3 bolds, remove the top and you'll see the air filter. Unscrew the placeholder on the left and the air filter will just pop out. Then pop in the replacement part and screw everything back. It's a simple, clean 5 minute job.

Replacing the whole airbox unit for an open filter is nearly as simple; get the correct replacement filter, unscrew the original airbox and screw the new one in place (following the directions which come with the replacement part). This is a 15 minute job, but still pretty simple and might have a noticable effect on performance (better throttle-response and 2~6 hp more). This looks something like: http://i42.tinypic.com/2yopqwj.jpg (the purple filter being the aftermarket K&N air filter).

Both are under the hood and easy to get to. As for the Air Filter nobody beats K&N they are simply the best. Any fuel filter thats the right one will do.

Changing the air filter on an HHR

To change the air Filter on an HHR:

It will take some time, so be patient.

    1. Disconnect the air intake hose to the filter box. It is at the left rear of the box as you look at it from the front of the car.

    2. Disconnect the MAP sensor wiring.

    3. Disconnect the coupling to the engine intake.

    4. The filter box is help in place by two ball and socket type retainers located on the back corners. Grasp the box and lift up firmly to lift it free,

    5. Turn the assembly upside down. There are seven torx screws securing the cover of the filter. Remove them and replace the filter.

    6. Reverse the process to re-install the filter box.

Location of the air filter

I had the same problem. Atleast in my case I had to take off the bottom plastic cover which is right under the front section of the car. (It kinda has the same shape as the hood except flat.) After taking off the plastic cover the filter is in clear view. There is no way of changing the filter unless you do that. Hope that helps! I need help with somethig else regarding fuses, feel free to recipricate :-D!
