Question about Cadillac DTS

1 Answer

My mom left the key in the car and the battery drained while the key was in "ON" position. She got the key out somehow, however the car wouldn't start. I took the car to the caddy dealership. They replaced the start. It worked for a week and then it wouldn't start again. They replaced the starter again. It worked again but as soon as I go the car home it wouldn't start. What could be the problem??

Key in ignition stucked

battery died somehow in two days - More then likely your vehicle has what is call a parasitic drain on the electrical system (battery) . Something is not turning off when it is suppose to . The key will not come out because of lack of battery power . Safety system-won't let the key be turned all the way off an removed again because of no power . You have to get it jump started an get it off the street . Then check out vides on youtube on find parasitic draw .

Left key on and battery drained. Can we just recharge the battery and it be dependable

Most likely yes. Unless it is an OLD battery it will hold the charge just fine.12_24_2012_6_42_52_pm.png

"1999 Buick Century" unknown dinging draining

It's probably your ignition not being exactly disconnected when you remove the key.Until you get a new ignition (keyswitch),just jiggle the switch with your fingers after you remove the ke7y and see if the dinging stops. my Aerostar has that problem right now. don-ohio

All signs are pointing to the electrical portion of the ignition switch AND / OR the wiring connection.

The electric switch is located directly behind the key switch (under the steering wheel).

I recommend you to remove the battery cable first to prevent accidental air bag deployment.

Sounds like a faulty / intermittent Earth connection. Check all the battery and earth leads where they connect to the Battery, Engine, Starter Motor and Body. If possible disconnect, clean thoroughly by removing any corrosion or paint that could cause a poor connection, and reconnect making sure all are tight.
