Question about 1995 BMW 3 Series

1 Answer

My 1996 BMW 316i will start fine, however, when i begin to accellerate, it begins to die. The engine will start to sputter, then gain power again. If I allow the vehicle to warm up for a 10-15 minutes, I can drive the car fine, but if I try to accellerate too fast, it starts to sputter then catch up. During high miles per hour....40-60....it does fine, but sometimes begins to loose power then gain it back again. I think its the fuel pump. I read that it can be a relay, or perhaps could it be something with the fuel injection? I had a 1992 bmw that needed three out of 6 fuel injector modules changed. help please

Try replacing the fuel filter, especially if you've run the tank low. Micron screen has picked up all the **** in the bottom of the tank.

I have bmw 316i n reg went out to start it and there was nothing it would bump start so i changed starter motor and next day was fine then day after it done it again does anyone know what it could be...

there may be a damaged wire coming from the receiver ring which sits round your ignition lock, this "reads" your key and allows the starter to turn your engine over so if there is an intermittant fault here that could cause your non-starting.

Starts cold when warm shuts off

May be the fuel pump, experienced similar problems in 1995 Intrepid. When the pump warmed up, it would start to loose pressure and car would sputter and die, but would start back up. If it started it would usually begin sputtering again and eventually die.

1996 BMW 316i Compact Loss of Power

This could be fuel filter clogged and/or impurities in the fuel system, fuel injection not adjusted properly or faulty coil. Hope this helps.

Engine sputtered, then died. Towed home. I

Might be fuel pump, or filter is pluged up, best to chg. filter and then do a fuel pressure test.
