The fuses that run the radio is depends how your vehicle is equipped with or without dvd player and with or without steering wheel controls but if you check fuses F1 which is a 10 amp fuse, ?F7 which 5amp fuse, F22 which is a 10 amp fuse, and F31 which is a 20 amp fuse, you will have them all covered all of which are located in the fuse box inside the vehicle. thanks for using fixya

Vehicle information Center and radio fuses keep blowing at the same time. 96 jeep grand Cherokee limited. Help !


the fuse has only so many loads no actual fuse stated.by you.
there are more than one fuse related to a radio, besides the one marked RAD. so... why not tell the exact fuse.......????

we disconnect each to find the one that is shorted.
the fuse prevents the wire fire, so... do not up the amps.

fuses 3
FB 12 (fused dimmer to radio and other places
FB 15 main radio power,(run -acc)
PDC 17 dome lights and radio memory wire....

you need to know what fuse, then look in the FSM
and see all things wired to that fuse.

I have a 2000 chevy venture minivan that wont start due to a short. it blows fuses only when i plug in the stero system. i bought another stereo thinking it was a bad radio but it does the same thing.


to isolate your problem: run a power source from auxiliary power from the fuse box to your radio, connect this to your radio where the fuse connector, this will not interrupt any other fuse which cause to blow due to over loading. Your radio should work w/out any interruption. good luck.

Continous blown fuse


the fuse , blowing is for 2 reasons
1: wrong fuse. (too small, do not put too big in, use right size.
2: dead short on this power line.

the fuse prevented the FIRE.
what to do? well, look at the fuse
then look in the FSM for this electrical page, 1 of 50 pages.
for radio.
then look at the output side of fuse, that goes to the radio.
at any point alone this wire and the radio bad.
can be a dead short to ground,
look for DAMAGE, if the radio was hacked into car, id look there first.

if you need better help, tell me exactly what fues blew,
the marking on box, or the label for this fuse, , not went dead.
ive been around the block, so know radios are 1/2 time wired wrong.
fuse 32, 7.5amps runs the radio and ECU. (page 23-52 in FSM)
white-blue feed wire, (this is shorting if car is still wired STOCK)
all comments USA cars, other countries use different wiring and colors, so, state country.;
last , page 196, FSM radio page
there are 3 fuses for the radio, which one blows>?
fuse 23,32,39?
unplug the radio, does this stop blowing fuses?
if radio is not stock, say so.. still have that classic Cassette?

91 is a transition year, big changes,
the early car is quite different.
on the early , the radio fuse is fuse 12. (15amp)
and runs a vast number of things.
clock
interior lamps
cig light, (remove it)
stereo
and ICU.
any can short. finding it can be harder on early hondas.
i use an ampclamp meter, to find all shorts. ever seen one?

now power windows, in early 91 its use a different fuse
fuse 20/21.

on later car. 91+
windows is fuse 14,36 and 39
do you have and FSM?
do you know how to read schematics?
if not, then all you can do is unplug things, and pray you find it.
or ask any ASE mechanic to find it. all can. easy.
we use and ammeter.
we have a test fuse that wires in and ammeter, to monitor current.
we then bang the radio and harness, parked, in shop and find who is shorting,
in cars, the one thing to learn, is usually 1 fuse runs many things.
to see that, open the FSM and turn to the Distribution page.

The radio turns off when its up past 20 volume and the lights are hooked up to the radio. if you turn the lights off the radio goes off . u have to have the lights on for the radio to work. the radio...


your radio has been wired to the lights. you need to run a new power wire to your radio from the fuse panel using a different fuse. do you have a spare not being used? as for the volume problem, I can't help you. This should be a simple fix. if you have the owners manual, look up the fuse for the radio(look under fuses, it will have a diagram of where the fuses are and what they are) and rewire back to that fuse. hope this helps

Lost the fuse diagram for my 1991 dodge spirit and need to know which one is for the radio


the radio may run of the accessories fuse in the fuse box under the hood ,you may have a small fuse box under the dash check there ,some radios have line fuse in the power lead to the radio, you might have to pull the radio out to see but check all the other fuses first.....hope this helps.....cheers

Chrysler Voyager 2003 battery went dead now radio won't even turn on, clock doesn't work


i assume you put a new battery in,van runs but no radio or clock, check all your fuses first,and also make sure that radio doesnt have anti theft system, if it does then read your manualy on how to enter the code,if it needs a code then it wont work until code is entered,careful if you do the code entering wrong three times then radio shuts down for one hour, then you would need to have the key on or van running for one hour straight,

Where is the fuse for the radio in my 2005 grand vitara, i have found a fuse box but it's not in there


hi, usually the fuse for the radio is located on the back of the radio its going to be actually in the back of the radio or it will be an inline fuse running in the live wire coming from the back of the radio.

You will need to remove the radio slightly to gain access to the fuse in the back of it.

Wait 'till dark and move those wires around while you are looking under there..."crackling" will create sparks which you will be able to see (and correct). Only other sure cure for this is to remove the fuse (if nothing else uses it) and run a direct hot lead to the radio using an open fuse port that is "hot" when the key is on. Cut the original power wire for the harness connector on the radio and tie into it, capping off the portion that runs back to the fuses Use an "in line" fuse in the new hot wire.. You can run a new ground as well to the dash support frame. If you need to run a new clock wire, use a fuse port that is on all the time, and run the same way as for hot lead.. DO NOT tap into engine control or airbag circuts!!!

Radio and electric windows not working


Yes, it is most likely a fuse issue. Two things going out at the same time usually leads to the fuse block.
The radio and the clock are on two separate fuses. The clock runs on the constant power (yellow) wire to the radio... and the radio itself runs on the red Ign./accessory wire.
pull the fuse cover off and look on the sticker on the cover for the radio fuse and check it. I'm betting it is burned out.
