My check engine light is on and everytime i get gas my car will not start. to get the car to start i have to give it gas. i had it scanned and the check engine light is on because i have a bad evaporative solanoid and O2 sensor? how expensive is that to fix? what exactly is going on with my car?

Check your throttle position sensor or throttle body is dirty might have to purchase an air intake spray cleaner to clean your throttle body..

Have you had the computer checked for trouble codes, and the base fuel pressure checked with a gauge ?

First thing to do is have the computer scanned for trouble codes.

The check engine light means that something is out of specifications on one of the sensors.
For instance, if the throttle position sensor was bad, then the light would go on indicating that it was getting a signal inconsistant with expected data in the computer.

I would have the car scanned with an OBD-II Scanner that can give a code that tells what system to look at.

OBD-II Scanners work on cars 1996 and up so yours should have that system.

One can get a scanner from Sears or Walmart for under $100 that can do this for you.
Or, one can go to Autozone or Advance Auto and get it scanned for free, for driveability issues.

COULD BE TRANSMISSION SPEED SENSOR.HAVE VECHICLE SCANNED AT AUTO ZONE OR ADVANCE AUTO PARTS.THEY WILL SCAN IT FREE.AND TELL YOU WHAT TROUBLE PCM GIVING YOU.

How many miles do you have on the car, usually they want you to have your emission checked at a certain mileage.

By having it scanned and cleared with an OBD tool. This light comes on when it detects a problem. Could be a bad gas cap, or it could be a misfiring engine. The code you get from having it scanned will pinpoint the trouble area

You have an issue with the engine. The other lights come on when the Check Engine light comes on. The most common reason for the Ck Engine light on is a loose gas cap. If the cap is tight, you will need to find someone who can scan the car's ECU and give you the DTC code. Go to Autozone and have them scan the engine code. Post what you find. My guess is an O2 sensor.
