Question about 2000 Mazda MPV

1 Answer

The plastic lens covering the front driver side turn signal has a chip and has failed the state inspection. The dealer says that I need the entire turn signal assembly, the lens is not available by itself. 1. Is this true? 2. How difficult is it to replace? Thanks.

How do I access the left front turn signal bulb?

prop open the hood, grab a straight-edge screwdriver or upholstery removal driver (seems to work better for me) and remove the small, round-headed clips that hold the plastic cover that spans the front of the car over the headlights, then remove the cover itself.
Now, with the cover off, look down directly at the headlight assembly - you'll notice a small rectangular **** cut out right where your headlight lens and signal lens meet.
Grab a long screwdriver and put it down that **** and there is a clip that holds the signal lens in place using the headlight assembly. Use the screwdriver to unclip the signal lens as you pull on the lens to get it loose from the headlight assembly. If you can't see the clip, just grab a flashlight and shine it down into the hold and you'll see it, it's a pretty big clip.
Once you have pulled the signal lens out, you will need a large Torx bit and a ratchet to take off the 2 large silver Torx bolts that are holding the headlight assembly down. You can also use just a regular hex socket of the appropriate size to get these off.
Now with those two bolts removed, it's easy sailing - just pull up on the headlight assembly and out, and now you have easy access to the back of the headlight lens where you will now be able to see where the headlight plugs in.
Around the light is a black plastic locking piece that locks the lens in place - simply twist it off and the light can be taken out of the lens. There's also a blue clip that holds the light into the electrical socket, which can sometimes be a pain in the **** to get off, but just take your time - you don't want to break these parts 'cause they're expensive to replace!
After you have the blue clip off, you can now just take out the light, replace it with your new one (make sure you don't touch the bulb!), and reverse these directions to put the lenses back in properly, and repeat for the other side of the car.

Hope this helps! If you need clarification, just ask.

I removed the plastic lens from the front passenger side turn signal to replace the bulb and now the plastic lens is loose. It is only held on by one screw. How do I get the lens cover tight

short of buying the part the scew goes into. try filling the hole with a small amount of body filler,Bondo. alow it to harden and drill a small hole into it to accept the screw. the drill should be about 2/3 the diamater if the scew.

Audi A4 2002 Low beams & Right front turn signal stopped working

For Audi A4 the fuse box is located on the left side of dashboard behind a plastic cover (for left hand steering wheel vehicle). On inner face of the plastic cover you will find the fuse diagram.
First fuse on first row from left upper corner is Fuse Nr.20 = F20 (15A) - RH headlamp low beam, headlamp adjustment.
First fuse on second row from left upper corner is Fuse Nr.21 = F21 (15A) - LH headlamp low beam, headlamp adjustment.

Signal lights, fuse box and signal light relay in 2001 Volkswagen

The bulbs on these cars can be delicate. Some get replaced every year or so-( headlights, tail and brake) and some I've never touched in 8 years (my front turn signals and marker lights)

The fast blinking occurance is normal when a turn signal bulb goes out.

The rear lights are common to blow, I keep spares in the glovebox.

Make sure you were given the correct bulb, check to see that it works and isn't defective. Also there is an empty spot in the rear bulb holder- make sure you didn't mistakenly pop a bulb in there cause' it won't work.

The front right signal light is in the right headlight housing. Open the hood and on the back of the housing there are two plastic caps. One is curved and one is rectangular- you want to take off the rectangular one.

Open the drivers door and on the side of the dash there's a cover. This is the main fuse block. Use a coin or carefully with a screwdriver pry it open. To check a fuse pull it out, noting exactly where it came from, and visually inspect it to see if it is blown.

Fuse # 2- turn signal system
Fuse #4- License plate lights
Fuse #7- back up lights
Fuse #13- brake lights
Fuse #22- parking and side marker lights, right
Fuse #23- parking and side marker lights, left

The turn signal flasher is integrated into the hazzard button in the center of the dash. If all else is good and you suspect the flasher is bad, which is a good possibility, call a VW dealer and have them run your VIN# to check for recalls. The hazzard switch for some cars around your year had a recall on em'.

My 1991 gmc sierra front side turning light bulb burnt out. I need to replace it. How do I replace it?

On the front turn signal cover there are 4 phillips head screws (1 on each corner) holding it onto the grill. Unscrew those 4 screws and pull the cover out some and you will see that there are 2 turn signal harness attached to the back of the lens. Push in the little plastic arm on the side of the harness and twist them to the right I think. This will unattach the harness from the back of the lens allowing you to pull it out. To get the bulb out of the harness, hold the harness and twist the bulb to the right or left and pull it out. On the bulb there is a little notch that will only allow you to turn it one way. Hope that helps.

Can't get the cover off to change the bulb on the front turn signal

Hello terencewelch...the lens covers on these older models trucks seldom come off without damge. They are sealed with a gasket and compound to make them weather proof. You should be able to replace the bulb from the rear of the assembly. If you cant get to it from the back, slide the entire turn signal assembly out to access. Here is picture of the assembly for reference.
Good luck...i hope this helps and will fixya up.

Front Turn Signal Lamp Replacement

Yes, I would remove the entire headlamp assembly. This is easier than you think. Unscrew the large black plastic nuts (you should be able to use your fingers, if not then use a pair of pliers) which are on top of the headlamp lens (2) and the turn signal lens (1). The turn signal lens also has a metal screw-in stud attached to it. The headlamp lens lifts straight up and is attached to the turn signal lens by a clip at the bottom. The turn signal lens is attached by a clip to the inside fender. You will need to pull / **** the turn signal lens straight towards you to get the clip to disengage. Once you remove both lamps you will see how they fit together to place them back in position. It takes approx 15 minutes to replace a bulb, since the alignment during re-assembly is a bit tricky.

E300D Headlight Lens installation

First you have to remove the turn signal lamp. There is a plastic release tang that you push one way and pull the turn signal out. Next you have to remove the filler panel below the headlight assy to gain access to the bottom bolt. 2 screws hold the filler in place. There is also a black plastic filler panel that is pinned to the headlight assy remove it. There are 3 or 4  bolts that hold the headlamp assy in place 2 on top 1 on bottom actually it might be 2 on the bottom. (old age memory loss LOL) remove the bolts and remove the headlamp assy. The lens is held in by plastic clips just pry up gently on the locking clips and remove the lens. I hope this helps. It fairly easy and you should be able to DIY. Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!
