I have a 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan that the combination cd/am-fm/ cassette player in it quit working. The owner manual shows nothing on how it is protected. My Chilton’s manual is very much the same. Although it talks of the power center and there are fuses and relays located under the dash at various location protecting other devices. I would say their answer is very vague. The tag on my radio reads; model no P05064300AC A, SUPPLIER ISSUE SERIAL NO. T 00 AM 340 2 V6165; it uses one main plug on the back for connecting the wiring and has RAZ on the front name plate. However the Chilton’s manual does show a wiring diagram of the audio circuit and it indicates it gets power from the cigar lighter. Guess what my cigar lighter does not work and may be this could be the source of my problem but I find nothing on the cigar lighter. I’m guessing this may be one of those protection devises under the dash but where? Can you advise me what I should be looking for and where it is located? This would be of great help. Alex Malon

in the fuse panel under the hood beside the battery there is a fuse marked IOD in your nearest right hand corner facing the vehicle. Pull the fuse, wait 3 min. Reinstall fuse.

I'm not sure about the fuse box layout on that model, but I do have a tip for finding fuse related problems. Get a cheap test light and connect the alligator clip to the negative battery terminal. Roll the key to the RUN position ( do not start). Look carefully at the fuses while they are plugged in. You should see a little silver tab on both sides of the top of each fuse. Touch one with the probe of your test light. It should light up. Now touch the other side. If it doesn't light up on both, the fuse is blown. If it doesn't light up on either side, then there is no power getting to the fuse and you'll have to do more digging, but it may be normal. Some circuits are only energized under specific conditions.

The fuse box is located on the dash behind the drivers door... open the door and look on the end of the dash on the drivers side.
