My farmall H will not turn over at all. Battery is good. 6volt. Manual push button start. New starter . Nothing Help please.

Haven't work on one these but following is what I use for finding bad grounds even though I got several meters.

You can rig up test light using some wire and a 6 v lamp bulb. It won't give an exact voltage readings but a brightly lit lamp indicates at the present of the voltage.

For testing for bad grounds use the main battery ground connection and probe the ground connections around the starter while trying to start. The test light will make it safer as you are just looking for a lit lamp will trying to start; just place the lamp where you can see it from the starting position. The test light will light if there is a bad connection between the starter's ground and the battery ground.

The same setup can be uses to probe to see if voltage is even reaching the starter through the switch and solenoid connections. If the starter solenoid is separate from the starter it can have a bad ground too and will not operate.

Starter for my 1994 Suzuki Swift 4cylinder not working. It won't even click

Check your ground cable and battery connections. Body grounds will give problems. Check and see if starter is engaged into flywheel. also Low voltage will cause a problem with starter bendex locking into flywheel. One more thing is check starter ground,If starter is not grounding it will cause problems.

86 fordtruck new starter tuck want turn over

Go back and recheck the wiring to starter first. I suspect it's either the starter solenoid or a bad ground to starter if you are sure you are getting power to the starter. Make sure the ground is getting good contact. If you can put the ground cable to one of the mounting bolts on the starter to make better contact insted of the engine block. Clean the area before installing the ground. Be sure you disconnect the ground cable from the battery before you start work on the starter. Hope this will help you.

1993 sierra gmc truck wont start... speedometor races battery working and has had the starter replaced. Gages jumping relays clicking, but no juice to the starter...help

If your starter has 2 or more small wires on it you may have switched the terminals. If you have a separate starter relay you can bypass the relay with a jumper cable and send 12 volts to the starters only main cable. It should crank, have it in Park (Auto) or Neutral (stick shift). If the starter does not crank bypassed then the only thing missing is a good ground. Use a pair of jumper cables and try grounding the starter case and connect the cable to a good ground. With the gauges dancing usually a bad ground is the reason, so the jumper cables will help with that problem too, at least for test reasons.

If you had the old starter tested, then you know it was the first problem. But if the old starter was not tested your problem could be a bad starter relay, an ignition switch,or finally a bad ground. Check the grounding of the remote starter relay, check for a plug-in connector off the end of the steering column for corrosion.

Truck won't start

could be bad ground?get a set of good booster cables and put ground cable to battery, and other end to good ground on engine.
try that.
you can also hook red booster to + on battery, and other end to big nut on starter.[BE VERY CARFULL ON STARTER NOT TO GROUND + CABLE WHEN PUTTING ON...........USUALLY VERY TIGHT AROUND STARTER].....IF YOU TRY SECOND METHOD PUT CABLE ON STARTER FIRST AND THEN TO BATTERY.IF + SIDE HITS GROUND THERE WILL BE LOTS OF SPARKS,REMOVE IMMEDIATLY.
try ground first,if ok you have bad ground wire connection somewere.
be very carefull with + side.

I have a 1996 chevy z-71 w/the 5.7 vortec, automatic trans. I have a braided ground that is connected to the frame near my starter but i dont know where the other end is supposed to go (either the starter...

The braided ground is for the starter, the starter should be grounded to the frame. It's the ground that create most of the currant flow, so your going to reconnect the ground to the starter to keep the positive wires from over heating when trying to start the engine. Good luck and it's would not hurt to replace the ground if it's too corroded.

1998 honda ground wire connection

the starter has one 4 guage wire but this is positive coming from the battery and the ground wire is connected to any part of the engine so the best way or the best thing you can do is follow the ground wire from your battery (black) and see if is connected to the engine some carts they do have one ground wire connected to the bolts holding the starter to the engine also make sure you have connected the positive wire to the starter
