Question about Jeep Wrangler

2 Answers

I have a Jeep 1995 Wrangler. When the weather is cold it give a time to start. eg: If the weather is in the 20's i have to crank it 3 or 4 times if the weather is in the 40's then i have to crank it 2 to 3 times. I change: Fuel pump, fuel strainer coolant sensor, plugs/wires, thermostat, gas treatment, gas filter. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

Wow i think maybe you need to try a few tricks get a can of barrymans only barrymans carb cleaner . befor you start it find a place to spray in to the throttle body , if it fires or trys to run then we will go on !!!!!!!!!!!!! #2 this i s the no expense try take a screwdriver pull a plug wire SEE if there is a good spark . #3 the most likely problem is there is not enough fuel pressure on start up only way to tell is with a pressure Gage with the Gage installed the first time the key is cycled to the on position realistically the pressure should raise up to at least 36 to 40 psi if you keep cycling the switch the pressure should clime to 40 psi if it starts after cycling the key 2 or three times { without the use of the starter} its a fuel pump problem Let me know!!!!

I have a 98, your symptoms are classic for a crank sensor that is going south-they are about $70 to $90 and are held in place by 2 bolts, are a pain to get to but with patience and an 11mm box wrench, you can replace it. I can assure you that this is the problem, some people who drive these offroad actually carry a spare.

i was told that if the jeep all of a sudden didnt start on its own without giving it gas, then next time you start it hold the pedal all the way to the floor and it resets something in the computer and sets you back to normal.

1995 Jeep Wrangler 2.5L Fuel Pump/Check engine light

Could be one of several items...I'd check the fuel pump relay, auto shutdown relay and the ignition switch itself. I'd bet on it being one of those relays but, we all have been fooled at least once!!! I'd also make sure that body and engine grounding is good and clean. Relays can't work properly without a good ground.

Put the key in the ignition and turn it on and off (3) times without starting the jeep, leaving it in the on position count the (1) flashing indicator Light, Eg: (5) flashes, Then there will be a pause, then it may flash (3) times, this is a code #53. Keep your Eye on them and write them down. If you should miss (1) Repeat as many times as needed, Info: A #55 means there are no codes!!

1995 jeep cranks over a LONG time before it will finally start

sounds like yor car is in limp home mode. Funny name I know but its true. You may have lost your cam sensor so it went it this mode. A car won't start with out a crank senor but it will with out a cam sensor it just takes a few revolutions of the engine. Find your cam sensor and replace it hope this helps you
