Question about Hyundai Accent

1 Answer

I have a Hyundai Santro 2000 model. When I turn extreme left and when I just start to return to align straight, I get a noise from the steering. Could this be the left bearing in the axle needs to be replaced? Another problem.....the entire steering makes a sound while turning left or right...just like an old door not oiled. do i need to replace the steering arm or should it just be serviced? thanks

I would take it in to a reputable shop like Firestone or Midas. Usually they won't charge you to tell you what is wrong. Ask them over the phone first. Sounds like your Idler arm or a broken ball joint and the pump is straining to turn it.

98 Grand Marquis is very heavy to steer no noises from steering but will not return wheels to straight after a turn you have to turn it back yourself, tire pressure is good what else do I check for.

Check to see if you have any grease fittings on front suspension,
not many vehicles, especially cars have any anymore

Try flushing the Power Steering Fuild

Not likely to fix anything, but probably needs to be
done anyway

Could be you will need a new steering rack
eventually

Also the front end may need to be aligned
I would suggest an alignment only shop, not
a chain store type place.

My car makes a loud humming noise while driving when turning left. its fine while going straight or right. Wheel bearing?

Possible. If you have changed tires lately, make sure they put the right size tires on. If they went up in size by any measure, it could be rubbing on the tire well and thus making the noise. Check the users manual if you have it and check to make sure the tire sizes are correct. Also check your power steering fluid. That would make a humming or moaning noise but it would be noticeable while turning.

if noise is excessive it may be low in power steering fluid .if this is the case it will make a moaning ,tearing sound.any car with power steering will make some noise when locked fully left or right.
