Question about 2002 Volkswagen Jetta TDI

Open Question

2005 vw jetta tdi-loud vibration noise at speeds over 110km/hr. Sounds like its coming from passenger side under the hood or dash, at first I thought it was windsheild wiper vibrating definitely not this. Has been doing this for a couple of years but I only run into it when I go to Toronto and travel on the 400 series highways. I have taken it in to the VW dealer but they couldn/t find anything.

SOURCE: Noise Under Hood

I would be most suspicious of the alternator pulley. These are known to have issues and will at some point just come off. You may want to check out this thread on www.tdiclub.com: http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=139424

Hope that helps.

BTW you can drive the car without that belt until the battery dies, you just won't have power steering or AC.

This problem is very common with MkV VW's. It's related to the heat and evaporator components. It's some sort of flap motor.

Try balanceing the tires sounds like you lost a wheel weight, after it's been balanced ask a tire man to see if you have a tire seperated, you will see dimples in the side wall if that has happened and is a common problem and should be under warrenty.
