Question about 1995 Isuzu Trooper

Isuzu 3.1. turbo diesel. Engine revs drops and the engine cuts out intermittantly on tick over.

Possibly the fuel metering solenoid on the injector pump playing up was common
or injector pump itself
depending on which type of injector pump you have the round switch things on top rear section of pump that have a single or 2 wires to it.

some newer J engines are direct injected.
case in point
4JX1 is a 3.0L direct injection diesel engine, turbo, some intercooler.

Why do deisle engine cut back on 1500 revs

Hi Shirley, please state make and model of your car as well. If it is a turbo diesel, there could be a problem with the turbo, and the engine management unit are cutting the revs to protect it. Hope this helps.

which engine.????????
4 banger is 1,3,4,2 , on most, (non boxer engines)
the ECU dictates order, why worry that?
you plug the coils in wrong"?

1998 isuzu 280 starts up revs up when cold but wont rev when warm

Sounds like a sensor but what one and where ? take the air intake pipes off and check for oil inj the pipes as it could be the turbo is past it and its throwing oil into the intake pipes which is stopping the sensor from working once the oil builds up ,once its left the oil drips off allowing the engine to run again

Can i replace a 3.0litres diesel turbo engine from a 2002 isuzu trooper with a 3.1litres diesel turbo engine.And if possible how can this be done?

Yes you can . Requires some skills but the only bits that dont work after are the speedo and the rev counter .

These can be made to work but its a bit tricky ..

1998 Isuzu Bighorn 3.1 turbo diesel. Proceedure for replacing engine rear main seal.

Drop the gearbox down and out, take off the flywheel and you can see the seal then , prise it out ,cut off the wearing if it has one, tap on the new wear ring ,fit the new seal and replace the gearbox .

You maybe gotta jack up the back of the box to get the top bolts out , depends how handy you are .

Some times hard to start then tick over lumpy then clears and run well then when revs drop engine cut out will not start no faults found on diagnostic

Is this the 3.0 diesel ? Most likely the rail oil pressure sensor is faulty but wont show as a trouble code cos it reads pressures  from 0 - 27Mpa and can  show pressure  even when  its not there ,hard to spot but pull the white wire from the car side of the injector loom by the dipstick and see if that sorts it out-  or the rail oil pressure control valve - this should show as about 20% on tech 2 at idle  if it goes below 15% the engine stops again no code will set .

Do i need a turbo timer for an intercooled diesel engin..isuzu...

Yes it pays to have a Turbo timer or let it run for 3 minutes after an outing.
An Intercooler is usually fitted to turbo charged engines.It cools the air entering the engine making it denser,Thats why cars go really well on frosty mornings after they reach running temp.
