the code is MAF sensor also known as air mass sensor, try cleaning this with carb cleaner as they often just get dirty. if you need more info get back to me and I will talk you through it.

After you have checked the MAF sensor and or cleaned it if the problem persists then most commonly it will be the ECM, sorry forgot to mention that last time. Still though it will most likely be the MAF sensor.

Does it give a misfire or just, system to rich? If it gives you a cylinder number trying switching a injector, if the code jumps to cyl where you swapped, replace injector.

Engine light stays on dashboard

Engine light can be as simple as too much air getting past your gas cap, to a sensor gone . It could be anything . My light has been on for 2 years . The best thing to do is have a shop put it on a code reader. That will give you codes of everything in the vehicle that is wrong. You can pay a mechanic $100 to do it, or buy your own code reader at Wal-mart for $100. Then you look up the codes you get.Hope this answers your question please rate this solution

My radio is locked -it says "safe". I don't know the code to unlock it.

Take the vehicle to VW they will remove it and get the serial off the unit and give you the code. They will probably charge you $100 for this. You can do it yourself and give them the sreial number .......
Depending on the dealship you are affliated with good luck.
