Hello fellow Minnesotian... I would start by having battery cables checked. Reason; when cold they contract and make good contact, after they warm up they expand a little and loosen up just enough to lose contact surface. Clean them both at battery and lower contact points. Especially lower points, they're exposed to grease, road grime and snow, slush & road salt.

run the fault codes
not running indicates that the air/ fuel ratio is incorrect for the ambient temperature so you should be checking the ambient temp sensor /baro sensor and coolant temp sensor

Wont stay on

Sounds like your "Idle Air Control (IAC) valve is not working to raise RPM when engine is cold.

It is possible that the wires to the IAC were not reconnected when the MAF sensor was replaced.

It is also possible that another sensor, like engine temp sensor, was not reconnected after the work. Look carefully in the area around and under the MAF.

All else fails, the IAC is bad and needs to be replaced.

1991 chevy caprice , very low acceleration on running engine cold, live in minnesota, very cold, runs good after warming up, will only go 12 mph when cold

Hello: If the engine is racing (high RPM) when only going 12mph the it sounds like the transmission is slipping. (I grew up in southwestern Minnesota)

Hello, my 99 750 il v-12 likes to through the misfire code for all but on cylinder on the drivers side. it seems to only dose this when letting it warm up because it is cold here in minnesota winters t

I suspect one of your control modules has a connection problem. When cold condensation may be getting in causing resistance. Personally I'd have BMW look at it because it could be an ignition issue that could cost lots $$$ (I used to work for BMW NA, live in Mn. also)

Should i let my car warm up before driving to work in a cold winter morning? How much ware is done to the engine?

It's never a bad thing to let your engine warm up a few minutes before driving. Just tart it, let it iddle for a few minutes. The oil in your engine is very thick when cold, it becomes more fluid once it warms up and has less trouble circulating in your engine. Have a nice day!

Alternator/selenoid or electrical problem?

When your car is warm, everything is at its maximum expansion. Sounds like an overheating issue. But again I am not there to inspect and diagnose it. It could be several things. Winter driving keeps your engine way cooler than summer heat
