Question about Mercedes-Benz 190-Class
It is most likely the battery condition. When you use jump start cables it is really important to grind the teeth of the jump cable clamps into the metal to make good contact the other car should also be running whilst you do this. Often when you finally make good connection the engine note of the running car will drop indicating that its alternator is now under load supplying current to the dead battery via the jump start cables. If you have the facility remove your battery and put it on an over night trickle charge. In the mean time clean you throttle body thoroughly - you do not mention what engine variant you have but 1994 makes it one of the last cars made so I am assuming it is an injection variant. Put aside the air ducting between the air filter box and the throttle and clean the throttle interior with WD40 and a cloth rag. Rotate the throttle flap by pressing at the top and clean as far as you can behind. If the car starts the next day I would have the battery checked over with a view to replacing it. If the car fails to start I think a new battery would be a good first step. Note: a battery in good condition should show bout 12.5 volts between the terminals, if 12 volts the battery is discharged and if 10.4volts then one of the six cells that make the battery has died. When the car is running the voltage between the terminal should be in the order of 14.3 volts indicating that the alternator is supplying a good charge
