I think someone put the wrong fuel in it and now its close to empty I've got to drain the tank on it and I don't even know where the draian is or should I just flip the damn thing over?

tipping the car over damages the paint work and will still not drain the tank better to disconnect the hose from the fuel pump and turn the car on
collect the fuel in a container
or you could just fill that tank with the right fuel and the contamination will be diluted right down to very little problem
pity you could not mention what the wrong fuel was as any petrol grade fuel ( all octane ratings including e-10 mix) will not damage a vehicle and if it was disilene for diesel engines then the mix will only cause it to smoke lightly if at all when mixed with a full tank of petrol
again you never mentioned the engine type so if it is a diesel engine then you have to get the petrol out of the tank by the method suggested

Fuel tank half full. Why is 'low fuel' light on?

is it 2.5 or 3.0 ltr petrol? if so it is fitted with saddle type fuel tank which passes over the propshaft and has 2 fuel level sensors one each side and a jet pump to transfer fuel from one side to the other, sounds like you have problem inside the fuel tank the main fuel pump side of the tank may be drying out. rh side of tank i think. hope this helps/

No fuel getting through to engine

If you continued to attempt to start the car after running out of fuel the fuel pump may have been damaged. The petrol in the tank acts as a coolant on the fuel pump and when the tank is empty if the starter is continuously engaged it can overheat and burn out the pump.

1989 range rover not pumping petrol 3,9 runs on gas but will not pump petrol

Hi there, did you run the petrol low or out, the fuel pump will keep pumping while the key is on and if your running on gas them it's still running, I would say the fuel pump has failed due to no lubrication from fuel, be sure to keep your petrol tank at least at 1/4 of tank full

Petrol put into diesel car now it wont start

Drain all the petrol on your tank and so on the injection pump by pumping it. Open or loosen small tube going into the engine from the injection pump, to drain all petrol.

Make sure that petrol are remove from the engine fuel system, change fuel filter also. After removal bleed the engine.

inside the tank there are 2 or 3 hoses that transfers the fuel to where the fuel pump is. check for leaky hoses.

I have a bmw 316i i have 30 to 40 miles worth of petrol inside the petrol tank and the car rev metre goes up and down and cars engine shuts down completely and it wont start untill it has quarter of a tank...

That sounds like the petrol pickup pipe in the tank has an air leak and when the fuel is dropping down below the leak it is sucking in more air than petrol.
The most likely cause of that is either the gauge sender untit or the fuel pump itself leaking (if the fuel pump on that car is inside the tank).

2004 hyundai accent. trouble filling gas tank

I have a 2005 Hyundai Accent, It is not possible to fill the tank if you are letting the petrol pump run at full speed.Trying to fill up quickly it will only build up pressure and cut off. Next time you fill up just pull the petrol pump handle half way, it will take longer to fill but you wont get the blow back. Modern petrol pumps are getting quicker all the time.Hope this helps you.
