SOURCE: Toyota Prado V6 4.0L Petrol 2006 will not start

your starter gets its earth when bolted to engine it sounds like you have a short circuit if its clicking it could be the solenoid or the earth strap touching the positive terminal check this first if it does not work we'll go from there.

"when the fuel pump kicks....it makes a very short duration sound....you can hear it....but in seconds it will be gone......as gasoline has made its way to the engine.........

if you cant hear any noise from the fuel pump......it could be that the fuel pump realy is bad........if you happen to change the relay....and it still does not work.....then it is the fuel pump. that is fried.......

about the water.....i am not shure......unless there was water in the gasoline itself....or somebody put water in there in purpose....

hope this helps...

Corsa utility 1.4 failing to start and it is not giving a spark. it flashes the spanner light about 5 second after turning the key on please tell me what is the problem

Hello Sibusiso,

(From the 2009 Corsa Owners Manual)

Your Immobilizer system checks whether the engine is allowed to start with the key being used. If the transponder in the key is recognised, the engine can be started.

The electronic immobiliser activates itself automatically after the key has been removed from the ignition switch. If control indicator "spanner light" flashes when the ignition is on, there is a fault in the system; the engine cannot be started.

Switch off the ignition and then repeat the start attempt.
If the control indicator continues flashing, attempt to start the engine using the spare key and seek the assistance of a workshop.

See 2009 Owners Manual at the link below.

When I turn the key nothing happens. No clicks, no crank. All of the lights work properly. No dimming or turning off when I try to start. This has happened a few times before. The first time I put the car...

Ignition switch....the electrical ignition switch. To verify, find the thick white wire in the harness coming from the switch and do two things; first, check for power at this wire, when you switch the key position to start. If nothing, power the wire momentarily with the key in the run position, and your car should start.

My 2002 chevy impala wont start. When i try to crank it all the lights shut off & nothing works but the check engine light flashes. After messing with the positive post on the battery the lights come...

dirty battery terminals
they are most likely a black color inside and on the posts where they should be a shiny clean
use a wire brush or file to remobe the lead sulphate that is preventing good contact and then make sure that the terminals are tight

2000 Olds intrigue: When i turn the key nothing happened. All the lights came on (like they would if it normally started). There was no clicking noise - nothing. I tried shifting the car from park...

if an ignition switch fails, sometimes you can jiggle the key and it will start right up. its very hard to tell. but if you can start it by bypassing the ignition switch, then its the switch itself. go to this site for more detailed info--- aa1car.com/library/1999/cm119948.htm---this page should help. click on top link.

Wouldn't start. Turned ignition switch. Nothing happened. Interior lights & headlights worked.tried 2 hours later & car started.

Does your security light flash if you turn your key to the 'on' position? If so, this is a Passlock problem. It should restart after 10 minutes. Here`s a possible solution that has worked for me. Have a new key cut from origional key or best condition key you have. Buy some Electronic cleaner and spray lots into the lock cylinder. Then, put your key in the ignition and turn from off to on position several times (5 to 10 times quickly). Then remove your key and spray again and repeat key turning. Do this several times. I don`t recomend any spray that is oil based. I no longer have issues with my Passlock system and I have almost 500 000Kms on my Impala.

2001 lumina turns on-- but doesn't turn over

When that happens again, try moving shifter harder into park, or in to neutral and also try stepping harder on brake pedal & see if it makes any difference.

Had 1st oil change on 08 4Runner @ 4980 miles. "Maint" light came on at 5000 miles indicating oil needs changed. How do I turn it off?

If you have your owners manual, should be a section in there on resetting the light. You may also want to try this method... With the ignition off press and hold the button for the trip meter reset, while still holding this, turn the ignition to the on position (don't start vehicle), you should see either the maint light start flashing (if this is what happens then it should go off after flashing a few times, then you can release button and start vehicle) or there should be a few lines where the mileage shows up, these lines will flash and start to countdown and disappear, then it should show "oil life 100%". Hope this helps

Engine does not start?

Make sure that the connections at the battery is clean and free of acid built up. Take the terminals of and clean them propperly

It could also be the ignition switch at the wiring end not making proper contact anymore, try and wiggle the ignition wiring if possible and see if there is any change in the status when the ignition is switch on
