It is possible that the ignition switch is wearing to the point where it is making internal contact causing the light to come on and off. Try to manipulate the ignition switch without the key in it and see if that causes the light to come on and off. It is possible that you may need to use some WD-40 or something like that and clean the internals, something could also be sticking internally where the tumblers are. Good luck.
