The coil could be bad or the wires are not properly hooked up.

97 pontiac firebird 5.7L HAS NO spark from optispark but has spark from coil

This engine uses a special flat cap and a standard rotor, right ? The spark comes into the cap and thru the rotor, then to the spark plugs.
Have you replaced the rotor ?
The spark can jump thru the rotor and ground thru the dist. shaft.
Depending on where you are testing for spark, the coil could also be weak and not pushing the spark to the plugs.

I got code PO 305 on a 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis, what is the spark plug wire part called
This will have a direct coil over ignition with a coil over each spark plug. The coil is the electrical part over the spark plug. The coil also has a rubber part that is called the boot or spark plug boot. The boots can be purchased separately but the coils will come with new boots.

is it #5 coil,

Have you checked to see if there is any spark coming out of the number 5 coil?

and should I replace the coil and spark plug and what should the spark plug be gapped at?

When was the last time the spark plugs where changed? It may be due for all the spark plugs to be changed. The spark plug gap is usually listed on the emissions sticker under the hood. It should be .050 - .056 or very close to that.

There is no spark at all

If there is no spark at the spark plugs, check for spark coming out of the coil. If there is spark coming out of the coil, replace your distributor cap, rotor and spark plugs, and spark plug wires. (Do a tune up)
If there is no spark at the coil, the most likely cause would be the crank sensor or the ignition control module.

There is no spark coming from the distibutor cap but there is spark coming from the coil.

if you have spark coming from the end of the coil wire and none coming from the cap you need to replace the rotor bug.

Where does spark come from coil or dist

The primary voltage signal that produces the spark in the ignition coil comes from the distributor, but the secondary voltage that actually fires the spark plugs does come from the ignition coil, and then it is sent to the distributor usually through a coil wire where it is "distributed" out to the correct spark plug.

Where are the spark plugs in the 2006 ford expedition

The spark plugs are located below the 'coil pack' in a hollow tube in the head. You must remove the spark coil retaining screw to access the removal of the soark coil. The reoval with expose the spark plug at the bottom of the hollow tube in the head. The total spark coil is about 6-7" long and when it comes out that is when you will see the spark plug at the bottom of that tube. It sounds difficult to find but once you know it is easy. There is no coil wire(typical spark plug wire) attached to the spark coil. It is fed by a special connector on the side of the spark coil. Look on the side that has the least number of hoses and equipment in the way. Find the top of the spark coil (about 1-3/4-2" in dia) with a wire connected on the side. There is a single small metric bolt holding the spark coil in place. It will not come out until that screw is removed. I hope that this helps.

I dont get a spark

do you have spark coming from your coil to distributor,or no spark right from coil? if you have spark coming from coil, and nothing at any plugs, check you dist. cap and rotor button.Chrysler's are famous for the cap and rotor button to corrode, you may be able to just clean the corrosion off with some fine sand paper,or might have to replace them. if you have no spark coming from coil, check for power and ground to coil.if both are present, replace coil.
