Question about 1990 Chevrolet S 10 4WD

1 Answer

I wasn't geting spark. after my fuel pump when out and battery went dead... I replaced the fuel pump then my battery. Still was not getting any spark replaced the ignition coil, distributer cap, rotar cap, and finaly the chip in the distributer cap. Someone told me since the battery went dead for a couple days that the chip ( the brain) was wiped out.... Put it all back together tried to start it up and flames came out the caburator but it wont start. Is my fireing order off??? I've put alot of time into my lil chev and don't know if when I lined up the marks I was off a rotation or maybe my fireing order was off. Please can someone point me in the right direction?

1989 ford escort turns over but wont start

if all you did was this...and and put a new battery in and still wont start...if you have went thru your plugs..wires..distributor..ignition coil...made sure your getting spark..if not..check your relays and fuses..preferebly one that deals with spark and timing for injectors..if everything is fine to that point...then try a crankshaft position sensor...it tells the pcm timing for fuel injectors and fire to the ignition coil...hopefully this helps.

Where is ignition coil located on 1998 jeep cherokee and how to replace

It could be heating up but there are some tests you can do to rule this out. When the vehicle doesn't start, do you know if you are NOT getting spark to your spark plugs or are you NOT geting fuel. You need these 2 things to at least start the engine. If you do not it will not start. Basically you would be best to find out what is missing and then start diagnosing before you replace any parts. Feel free to email me at csautomotivecars@att.net with any questions or needing testing procedures. I went on below and gave you instructions as far as replacing the coil but I still stress the fact that you need to diagnose your problem first. Also this is for the 4.0 liter engine. Wasn't sure if you had the 4 cylinder engine so I went with the most common engine for your vehicle. I hope this helps.

I HAVE A2000 ASTRO VAN IT QUIT WHILE DRIVING. I TRIED TO START BACK BUT BATTERY WENT DEAD, SO I GOT A BOOST, IT WOULD CRANK BUT NOT START. I GOT BATTERY TESTED IT WAS NOT HOLDING ENOUGH CRANKING AMPS SO I...

The fuel pump pressure shoud be 55-61 psi . Check for spark by removing a ignition wire at a spark plug and put a spark plug in wire and hold to engine ground and crank engine , if no spark then remove coil wire at cap and repeat. If still no spark then coil , module,,crank sensor or pickup may be the problem.
Check fuel pump pressure first and if available check for codes for possible crank sensor.

The fule pump went out i replaced it the cars geting fule and fire but wont start

You say you have spark, and fuel, but you also have to check for compression....Get a pressure guage and check each cylinder, or atleast 3 of them..It is very possible that your timing belt has popped..

My 2004 hyundai sonata will not crank. It turns over but won't catch.

check to see if getting spark or fuel if no spark could be crank sensor or cam sensor have to check voltage out of wiring harness if low voltage ecm bad. Pull both coil wires off coil and have someone turn ignition no spark probably ecm. For fuel check number one plug see if wet and also listen when you turn key for fuel pump. If driving it just died on ya and battery went dead like know and you tried jumping or replacing battery.Still would not start ecm bad.

2001 Lincoln LS 3.9 WONT START WITH 12v POWER!

Make sure the battery is fully charged first. Now you need to find out if spark to the spark-plugs is present and that the fuel pump is working. Let me know and we'll go from there.
