Question about 2005 Buick Rendezvous

1 Answer

2005 Buick Rendezvous blower motor stopped working. Should have checked the voltage prior to getting a new one but what ever. Got a new one and a ne resistor mod. It still does not work. My meter says I have 12v on the plug to the blower. It does not change with the shifting positions on the control knob. Scratch head... The fan does not turn on...Hooked fan directly up to the battery and the fan spins. Google some more ... maybe my ground is bad. Back to the gound to chasis ground beeps out good....Look at the switch it's self and scratch head on earth am I going to get to that? Help please. Oh and yes I checked all of the fuses. Thanks a bunch!

Would definitely check your grounds at the blower itself and the blower module.

Did that already. Finally got the nerve up to pull off the dash to get to the fan switch tonight.....The connector did NOT want to come off....finally got it off...found out why it was so hard to get off was melted and 3 of the pins pulled out....I would gather this is bad. So off to NAPA at lunch to get the new parts (a new switch and a new connector) and get my car fixed. YA!

You may want to order that pigtail from GM I have tried to get the aftermarket to no avail. Usually the melting occurs at the resistor or blower.

Jsmes1027, should I disconnect the battery before I cut and strip the wires? I am not stupid enough to cut all of them at once but I would think I could cause more problems in other areas if any wires touch while I am stripping them. Thanks

You can do that or just pull the fuse for the blower circuit. The diagram should tell you which one it is.

Hi JWebb50, I just googled your posting and I have had the exact same problem going on w/ my '06 rendezvous. I changed the resistor, the old one was had melted connection and I tested a new blower motor and the fuse keeps blowing. I figure I need to open up the dash like you did to check the switch now, I am hoping it is the same fan switch melted problem and I can get the parts at NAPA!! Thanks.

Blower fan not working at all 2004 Buick rendezvous

Which system ?
HVAC Systems - Manual HVAC Systems - Automatic
If automatic it's probably the blower motor control processor .
Blower Motor Control Processor The blower motor control processor is an interface between the HVAC control module and the blower motor. The blower motor speed control, Blower motor speed signal, battery positive voltage and ground circuits enable the control processor to operate. The HVAC control module sends the commanded blower motor speed to the control processor through a 0 to 12-volt linear ramped blower motor speed control circuit. As the blower motor speed control voltage increases, the blower motor speed increases. The control processor sends the actual blower speed to the control module through a 0 to 12-volt blower motor speed signal circuit. The processor supplies 12volts to the blower motor through the blower motor voltage supply circuit. The control processor uses the blower motor ground as a low side control to adjust the blower motor speed.

2005 Buick Rendezvous. No Air comes out of vents. Thinking this is from a bad fuse or blower motor. Need help in locating what to do next.

It sounds like you have a vacuum leak. When there is no vacuum present to acutate the system, it will default to air only coming from the defrost vents. Is the blower motor operating or is the 'no air' you're talking about just no air blowing? If it's not blowing, check your fuse; if that's good, check for voltage at the blower connection. If you have voltage at the connection, remove the resistor to make sure it isn't bad befor condemning the blower motor.
