Hi, they have been having problems with the sending unit in tank, you do not have to buy the whole fuel pump assy to fix this problem. You can go to a chevy dealer and buy just the sending unit for $80 to $90 , but you do have to drop tank and pull pump up and take sending unit off and unplug two wires . Then reinstall in reverse order. If i can help you any more just re post.
Thanks dodge tec

Sounds like at 1/4 reading, the actual reading of the fuel should be empty.Your gauge sending unit in the tank is most likely defective. Many are on these.

Truck dies, acts like it is getting to much fuel, used a quarter tank of gas in 8 miles

Clogged Gas Filter

Worn out & Blocked Exhaust Converter

Bad Ground at Fuel Pump

The different gas gauge readings would indicate a ground
issue with the sending unit in the fuel tank & possibly the
fuel pump shares the same ground or it is worn out.

I would check fuel pressure with a gauge & the fuel may be
there, but not enough volume

A fuel pump can last 4 years or 18 years

The float sending unit is messed up and don't know now much gas is in the tank. The float may be stuck in a higher position showing more gas, in reality the gas level is way below. Try using a rubber mallet and tap on the gas tank near the fuel pump. It may help free up the float.

dip your tank with a wire. if quarter tank indeed fuelpump or safety valve not opening in supply under hood. Check connection. Valve is on all modern cars for fire hazard. Check the valve by takening it out and testing it. Could be wire harnes problem also. Or filter blocked.
