My gear oil from the rear wheel bearing is leaking how do i replace the seal? Secondly, How can I fill in the differential with gear oil cause I tried but can't see fill in or drain plugs along the...

You will need to remove the rear diff cover. There is a small bolt that secures the pin that the spider gears ride on. remove this bolt, and then remove the pin(you might call it a shaft). Remove the caliper and rotor from the side you are replacing, and push the axle in. Inside the differential, you will see what we call a c-clip on the end of the axle shaft you just pushed in. Sometimes this clip if it is in the right position, will fall out on it's own. If not, slide it off, and go pull the axle out. Now you can pry out the seal and replace it. There will be a pipe plug with a square recess on the front side of the differential. You can put a 3/8 drive ratchet in the recess and unscrew it. This is the fill plug. You fill the rear end untill it runs back out of this hole. It will be located about half-way up from the bottom of the differential housing.

Does a 1500 sierra 4x have a rear drain plug

I assume you are talking about the rear differential. There is not a drain plug. Two ways you can change fluid - 1) Remove differential cover, let fluid drain, reseal with rtv, and tighten down. To refill there is a plug that you need to remove, fill until fluid comes out the hole. 2) Use a device to **** fluid from fill hole, then refill.

97 ford explorer/bad front differential..can I remove it completly with the cv joints and let front wheels freewheel?

Yes is the short answer. Did you blow the gears in your front differential or you going to put a whole new pumpkin in? If you are replacing the entire pumpkin drain it first. Then make sure to support it with a transmission jack first. Remove the tires. Then remover the CV axles and lower the pumpkin. Your vehicle requires a 75w90 synthetic axle lube for a refill. Good luck.

1999 Subaru Forester has developed a shake when accelerating, esp. between 20-30 mph. Wheel bearings replaced - didn't help. Tires checked, balanced, etc. - didn't help. Front end allignment - didn't help....

Auto or 5-speed?
Subarus have CV axles in front and back. And a drive shaft from the center differential of the transmission to the back differential.

Yes, it could be the drive shaft or axle. If you turn the car hard left or right do you hear any noises - usually a 'clicking' sound? This is likely a CV axle in front.

Check the fluid in the transmission (Automatic) (info is in the Owner's Manual) to make sure it's full and/or gear oil in the front differential.

If it's an Automatic transmission, the fluid may need changed - NOT FLUSHED - if it has more than 30K miles since last changed.

Need to refill clutch fluid

The housing that the axles come out of is the transmission so if you lost fliud out of there, it's transmission fliuld if it's a manuel transmission you fill from the side of the transmission if it's an automatic transmission you fill it from under the hood in the dip stick tube good luck
