Question about 1994 Ford Explorer Limited

4 Answers

Have a 1995 ford contour and took it to pepboys and they got multiple codes. One of the codes came up twice code 332 says egr valve not opening could this cause all the other codes? My husband has checked and cleaned in and around the egr and replaced hoses, thinking its the sensor?

DTC P0332 is for a knock sensor, not egr valve. That's not to say one of the multiple codes you've mentioned wasn't for the egr valve.

What are some of the characteristics the vehicle is showing. By the way, what is the vehicle? In one place it says 1995 contour, in another it says 1995 explorer.

A 95 Ford Contour WILL offer 3 digit OBD1 codes, 2 digit codes ended in 93/94 (some 94's still use double digit OBD codes) it is also not a 4 digit PXXXX code, only found with OBDII in 1996 and later vehicles. You either have a poor vacuum line to the EGR or a dead/clogged EGR valve (most likely a dead EGR which is cheap on that car/year). When yuo replace it, just scrub out the carbon from the EGR ports and hose before installing the new one. The graphic shown in a previous posst is not for a 95 contour, it's showing an EGR control solenoid and an electronic EGR, yours is structly vacuum operated.

Explorer? contour? what other codes? so is the egr valve opening or not? when it is open the engine should idle real rough, almost die. if it doesn't then the egr passage may be plugged. if it does idle rough, then the DPFE sensor most likely is bad.

Thank u for your answer . Its a Contour , the code says the egr valve is not opening. It doesnt idle like its gona die its more of a high idle , it does lack power and hesitates off and on. The check engine light goes on at the same time all the time and stays on until car is restarted then on restart is not on until about 5 minutes or so. The other codes are 116, 212, 542, 543. It idles rough like vibrates but not like its gona die. Its running like **** lol I hope that helps :)

Hello! Without knowing what the other codes are i wouldn't be able to determine if the EGR code is related...Your vehicle uses the On Board Diagnostic I (OBDI)...The codes are only two digits long..There isn't a code 332....A code 32 is an EGR Positioning sensor fault...

Here is a picture of the EGR system followed by the pressure or positioning sensor and the vacuum sensor...I suspect, since all vacuum lines have been checked, that the pressure sensor is defective...

Check engine light on 401

Should be the same as the Contour. Try these items, let me know.

go to www.contour.org a web site for contours, i got alot of info on
the old P0401 trouble code over there.. will cover your taurus as well
as the contours..... one is to clean the manifold by pulling off the
throttle valve body and pulling all the carbon deposits out of the
openings.. i had the P0401 on my 96 contur and changed out the EGR, the
EGR vacuum modulator and still have the problem code and will get to the
cleaning behind the throttle body when i get a chance to get to it....
been like this for about 2 yrs. now... no problems running the car, just
the light stays on... i can get it to go out by disconnecting the
battery but it comes back after two cycles in the car start up.....

Help 95 ford contour obd-1 error 335

I was reading in one of my repair manuals and it says in there that there could be a block where the exhaust gas pressure sensor is. There could be a blocked inlet hose. Or it could be the ECM.

Check engine light keeps coming on with code 332 egr code.

The Egr ports are plugged in the intake. Remove the throttle body elbow behind the throttle body, and clean out the carbon. I can walk you through it if you need me too. This is common on the 4.6

Check Engine Light Code 332

332 = EGR valve opening not detected.

You should be able to find a list of DTC's on the Internets somewhere.
