Sounds like one of two things, first things first make sure your car has gas in it sometimes the gage can be off and show gas in it when there is very little, if the car is parked on a hill that could also be letting the gas flow away from the fuel pump also causing the car to sputter, If it has gas then your fuel pump is out and will need replaced. hope this helped

Don't know if it's the same prob I had or not. I have a 2001 Grand Prix & had it cut out on me while driving, would cut out on me intermetantly. turned out to be ground wire coming out of the wire harness that plugs onto the fuel pump. Also fuel gauge wire was coming out of the wire harness too.

2004 RangeRiver HSE ??? Range rover hse Your vehicle does not have a fuel cut off switch . A relay controlled by the engine control module is what turns it on . Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop. One that has the proper diagnostic skills an tools .

I have a 92 sonoma 4.6 i want to lnow if cutting the fuel pressure lines from tank to filter and replacing the rubber lines is a workable thing or do i have to go have new pressure lines made?

the use of steel lines for fuel is for a couple of reasons
1-- proximity to a heat source ( exhaust pipe, muffler )
2-- damage from sticks , stones or other road based objects
3--- fuel pressure blowing hoses off connections
if you cut steel lines to fit rubber hoses . the hose has to have a pressure rating of 150 + psi , the steel lines ends will have to be flared so that the threaded hose clamp has a stop against which to act to stop the hose sliding off under pressure
the hose has to be properly mounted so as not to be caught by road debris
any way having new lines made is an expensive exercise when there are plenty of good lines available from the wreckers /junk yards that will just bolt straight in

My daughter drove car home, she report car was shut off twice, next day it won't start, just grunt for a second or two, engine not turn over, replaced battery, and starter do same thing; grunt then stop...

Forst off- buy obd2 bluetooth from ebay, it is cheap as chips and with torque app you can read faults. It may be many things, but if with new battery engine won't turn over it may as well be that the engine is having some incredible internal resistance e.g. it is dead. (Well, fixable but expensive). It's easy to check though. Get the car on tow and try to start it this way. If it gives you trouble still try to use fifth gear while towing, to get things moving. If you've never started car this way- ignition on- get some speed, gear in and clutch up. Be careful not to tailgate the towing car though. My friend had a problem like this once. Three different mechanics told him that the engine is dead. Beyond sensible repair. So I towed him to the scrap yard. In order to have brakes working properly he kept the car in fifth every time we had to slow down. Few miles down the road at scrappies the engine started like new and had no problems for another year. No idea what was the problem. Try - and listen what is going on.

Car will start and cut right off

When it won't start you will need to check for spark and fuel pressure to figure out if you are dealing with the ignition system or fuel system.
Is the check engine light on when the engine is running ?

95 honda accord cuts off while running

There are commom problems with the wiring harness that connect to the back side of the ignition housing. Tend to short inside the plastic housings. Take the scrowd off. 2 screws hold it on the ignition housing...it;s round and the wiring runs down the column . remove the 2 screws and disconnect the wiring harness under the dash. go to dealership around 50.00. post response if this helps.

Ignition fault

I had the same problem. After getting the car towed back to my house, I 'd tried to start it one last time before beginning to troubleshoot and it would start right up. After replacing a couple of things, which didn't help, it finally turned out to be the KEY ! It seems that the chip on the key was starting to go bad.I replaced it and haven't had any problems since.
