Question about 2000 Ford F150 Flareside SuperCab

1 Answer

The heater quits intermittantly. Does not work on any speed. Already totally rebuilt burnt connector on resistor. When I turn the selector switch on and off Ican hear a relay clicking but I cn't find it. Today it is working so symptoms have temporarily vanished. Wires on blower speed selector are heavier than on/off selector so I know there's a relay in there somewhere!

Burnt connector means high draw from motor . pull the blower motor and check if it turns easy.

2000 jeep blower motor has quit. What can I do?

Your did great

Now get yourself a wiring diagram & do voltage
drop testing along the same places you just worked
or did your type of checking & replacing thing

I would say it is more likely you have a ground side
issue than a power side issue

Which posiiton are the relays that control the volatge distribution to the resistor pack on the blower heater control switch circuit?

Sounds like double work to me

The wd40 will only work until you have
6" of snow & need some heat, then what

I would replace the blower motor &
resistor pack

I like to tinker as you do, but only one time

I would suggest on the free side, you get a print
from the local repair shop off of AllData & bring
some donuts & coffee, that way you have your
wiring diagrams

How do I fix the heater switch on a rover 25 1.4i Y reg

** First check the Fuse 19, 20A, in passenger fuse box (see manual- under steering wheel). then earthing connection E5 (Front LH inner wing.
**electricat connections are most accessable at Motor resistor bank, behind glove box (released by 8mm 2 bolts underneath ) Resistor pack in front of blower motor, 2x 6mm bolts. flick or squeese electrical relaese tab**

** Check the state of the motor speed resistor pack/ prone to resistor/resistor wire failure , which is behind the glove box,

The motor circuit is Green, live feed , to motor, slate black to motor speed selector (resistor pack), Output (slate or Yellow or Green or pink And Black) then Heater selector switch to earth (black).
- The feed from the motor is Slate/ Black wire. It pass through (or bypasses) resistor bank which limits the current through) the motor thus controlling. the speed. This has 4 connection slate grey from motor.

**Check 12v feed on blower Motor connector Green +ve , Slate Black to Earth. if ok, short Slate/black(Sl/Blk) to earth motor should run.

-Slate/B black (S/B) via No restor to switch, pos 4,

-Yellow/ Black (Y/B) via High resistor to Switch Pos 3
--Green/ Black (G/B) via Medium resistor to Switch Pos 2.
--Pink/ Black (K/B) via Xresistor to Switch Pos x.

From heater selector all final connection to earth are via to Black wire to earth on ineer LH inner wing.

Blower will not work on high speed or on recirc but works on lower speeds.

Check connections on switch for loose or burnt wires.Sounds like it might a bad switch or blower motor resistor.Hopefuly its the blower motor resistor its cheap the heater control switch on the other hand is very exspensive. Make sure you check the wire connector for melted connection on the blower motor resistor this could be the culprit.www.rockauto.com has a new wire connector and resistor for alot cheaper than you can get it from anybody else.Hope this helps!!

Check for power at the resistor on different speeds and that the ground has continouity to frame
If you have no power than look into the actual speed selector switch on the dash.
Let me know if this works, if not I will see what I can think of

I own a 2005 jeep liberty. the ac, heater fan only works on selector switch setting # 4. nay sugesstions on why fan does not work on settings 1, 2 or 3.

The lower speeds are accomplished by running the power supply through various resistors that drop the voltage which makes the blower turn at different speeds. The lowest setting uses all the resistors to drop the voltage as much as possible to turn the blower as slow as possible. High speed uses no resistors so the blower gets full power and turns as fast as possible.

Since speed 1 and speed 2 use the speed 3 resistor to drop there voltage and speed three is not working as well my guess is the speed three resistor is burnt out in the device referred to as the blower motor resistor or blower motor speed control module. This is located near the blower motor and is held in place with 2 screws. There will be several wires and possibly two connectors plugged into it.

These are really common failures in many vehicles. The parts are usually available at your local auto parts store and they are typically not that expensive.

Hope that helped.
