My 4x4 is not engaging on my 2004 Chevy trailblazer, any ideas?

Assume for an instant that the transfer case is actually working. The next area to check is the hub actuators or that the front hubs are actually engaging to drive the wheels. Remember it requires both hubs to be locked in for the 4x4 to work or else if only one hub is locked then the front diff will work and all the drive will be to the wheel that is not locked in
The cost to check is really cheap. just jack the front off the ground and see if both wheels are engaged . Do this by placing in 4x4 and have a friend hold a wheel while you turn the other wheel or try to turn the other wheel. BY holding one wheel ,if the hubs are locked in then you will not be able to turn your wheel. Ensure that the transmission is in gear as if you are driving the vehicle.

2002 GMC Z71 WHEN PUTTING INTO 4WD YOU CAN HEAR TRANSFER CASE LOCKING BUT FRONT TIRES WILL NOT TURN.

Hello tmaxx31190
Start by checking fuse #7 a 15amp fuse in the fuse block under the left side of the dash. This fuse is for the accuator motor on top of the left front axel tube. The accuator moter engages and
disengages the front axel for 4wd and 2wd. If the fuse is good, have someone operate the switch
and check to see if the accuator is working, you should be able to hear it engage or disengage.
If it's not working check the connections and for power at the accuator before possibly changing it.
If the accuator is working, it could be a problem with the shift fork inside the differential. Also, have
someone start the truck and engage the 4x4 then look to be sure the output shaft from transfer case to the front axel is turning. The safest way to do this is to have all 4 wheels up on jack stands.
Hope this is helpful.

05 ford 4x4 will not engage , no dash lights will come on showing 4x4 high or low. just bought truck it engaged a couple of times .not reliable now will not do anything. no noise grinding etc. it worked...

if you have an electric transfer switch start by checking the fuse, next if you have access to a lift
great if not on paved level ground jack it up onto 4
jack stands, have a helper get in the trk. to operate
the sw. check for pwr. at the shift moter if good start
trk. engage 4wd moter + see if the output shaft is
turning from the trans case to front differentialif it is
you may have a bad frt. hub. also if you have a manual shift case make all linkage is working to
the case the rest is the same. hope this helps
good luck.

You can check to see if there is a relay or maxi fuse in the engine compartment. The circuits/solenoids are known to go out alot in these in the fords.

2000 F350 Super Duty Will not go into 4 wheel drive

I have recently had this problem with a customer. It seems the 4x4 low will only engage in neutral with the brake applied. And also check fuse. Then select drive and you will feel it lock in. Don't "goose" the fuel when attempting this.

2005 f-150 4x4 not engaging

First of all, the problem was caused by lack of use of the 4x4. The fix was to have someone sit in the seat & turn the switch while 2nd person tapped on 4x4 solenoid underneath the truck (next to the gearbox (seen from rear of truck) about directly below middle-rear-seat). It must have become stuck (or rusted) together? Little taps while engaging switch 'unfroze' it. My 2 fuses that were blown were probably caused by overloading when I first tried to use the 4x4 while it was frozen out. Since fixing, just be sure to turn it on (and off) frequently, even if you don't need it. You don't actually need to drive with it, just engage it temporarily.
