Battery hot wire hot at solenoid but no fire at start switch. Can jump solenoid and it will turn over. What do I look for?

The start switch ? Do you mean the starter relay your jumping the solenoid on the starter and it starts right but when your in the vehicle and you turn the key you get nothing right if this is correct the starter relay is no good when you turn your key in the steering column lock that moves the ignition switch on the steering column sending voltage to the relay then the relay sends it to the solenoid which then powers up the stater motor then it cranks the engine//// so the relay is bad

WARE IS THE STATER RELAY ON A 2002 FORD RANGER?

the starter relay is located near the battery on the fender well! It will have 2- 9/16" or 13mm nuts on top. It is black and round, and also has at least 1 push plug wire on it. if you look on the wheel well there will be 2- 10mm bolts holding it in place!

Turn the ignition, car won't start. new starter

Hi, First thing have you checked to see if you have power at stater. You can take a test light to see if you have power on stater, if not check battery connections and make sure you have a full charge battery,if all this check out OK have some one to turn ing.switch while you take your test light to the small wire on starter solenoid to see if you getting power from switch. If no power on line could be starter relay or check and see if it will start in netural, if so you would need to check netural safety switch mounted on side of transmission. If i can help you anymore just re post
Thanks dodge tec

Try jamming it into park again, or holding it in park while you turn the key. It could be your neutral safety switch is giving you trouble.

STARTER WONT ENGAGE ONLY CLICKS UNDER HOOD STATER

If the clicking sound is coming from the engine bay, from the relay, you may want to have the starter itself checked out. You need to check if the ground cable from the engine to the chassis is secured. If that is OK, you may want to have the starter motor checked.
