Replace your oil pressure sender (it screws into the head and has a single wire going to it)and the problem should go away. If you replace the oil pressure sender and the light continues to stay on, try another oil pressure sender. If the light is still coming on, replace the oil pump in the oil pan.

run the fault codes to ensure that the EGR valve is faulty. Engine lights to not always come on unless there is something drastic going on with the engine /gearbox so that you can stop the car before damage is done.

Oil smell when idiling

If you have no oil leaks present, then perform an engine compression check. It really sounds like your engine has worn badly.

Oil light comes on when engine is at right temperture mini cooper 2002

When the car warms up, the oil will settle in. This can cause the oil to sink below the low oil sensor. When it is warm, check the oil, while it's running. There are 2 lines on the dipstick, 1 for cold and 1 for hot. Check the "hot line" to see if you need oil. If you do, be careful to not overfill it.

Oil light comes on when idiling and turns off when accelerating oil is full

Its quite possible that it could be a dirty oil filter.I would try an oil and filter change and see if that helps you with your situation.

My oil light comes on when the care is at idle after it warms up.

The oil light is coming on when it warms up because the oil is thin and lack of oil pressure. This is very dangerous. I would make sure that the engine is full of oil. Then get the oil pump replaced as soon as possible if the oil is full. If you don't get it replaced it will spin the bearings and you will have to either rebuild the engine or buy a new one.

Aftermarket oil filters will do this. Causing a lack of oil pressure when idleing and starting. Replace your oil filter with one from Volvo ALWAYS!!

My Chrysler Voyager , not sure what model,I think 1994, keeps showing the oil light on the panel. The alarm sounds when the car is idiling, and as soon as the car goes, the light dissappears, we have...

Have you checked the engine dipstick to ensure that the oil level is correct? A very low oil level will cause the light to come on and cause overheating because the oil assists in keeping the engine cool. Top up oil if necessary. If oil level is OK, then it is possible that the warning light pressure switch which is screwed into the engine oil pressure system is faulty and setting off light and needs replacing. There could even be oil leaking out of the switch. The switch is usually located near the oil filter and will have a wire connected to it.
If after replacing switch and light still comes on, check to make sure wire is not making contact with the engine because of chafed or cracked insulation. If the oil constantly needs topping up you either have a bad leak or the piston rings are worn and not operating correctly. If the leak is bad, then there will be oil puddles under the engine after it has been stopped for a while. If it is a ring problem then there will be grey oil smoke out of the exhaust while driving.
Worst case is that it could also mean badly worn engine bearings. It is unlikely to be the oil pump as these hardly ever fail.
