Should be driven for 30 miles all highway miles to reset the exhaust filter. do you let your truck idle a lot. because the new trucks you can cut them on and off just like you would a gas truck. idle will make filter build up faster and running around town alot of stop and go . Don't be scared to blow it out that is really all you are doing is blowing it out. Your owner manual should have alot more details in it about cleaning your filter out. If i can help just re post.
Thanks dodge tec

Particulate filter was removed from sierra 2500 2007 so now just straight pipe with a muffler. I did not know to look for this. How much to replace whole exhaust system?

I have a 2005 , 1500 Sierra and had to replace mine a while back. The dealership wanted over $800 CAN for a regular GM exhaust with a one year warranty, got them to look for a Magna-flow stainless steel exhaust with a lifetime warranty for about $650 can (this was from the manifold back) PS IT ALSO HAS A GREAT SOUND!!!

I have a 1993 GMC Sierra 4x4, with a 350 motor, a 4L60E transmission with a 3/4 ton upgrade and shift kit as well. Now when i press on the accelerator it falls on its face and then picks back up. ...

I would check the engine timing and do a check on the exhaust to be sure it is not partially blocked. As to the snapping when you shift I would check the universal joint to be sure it is ok and the rear end may have some play in it.

92 gmc sierra, when I push on the gas pedal while driving I lose power

Hello cdsports.
When I see this concern two things will come to mind.
Partially plugged fuel filter or a partially restricted exhaust system.
When you throttle up the demand for fuel rises and if the filter is plugged up it doesn't allow enough fuel through to meet the needs.
Similar with the exhaust system. Usually I see plugged exhaust in an engine that has been misfiring, running too rich or an engine that uses oil.
Too much fuel or oil entering the exhaust system can overheat the catalytic converter and melt it down.
A pressure test of the exhaust system ahead of the converter and after it will verify a plugged converter. I have seen a few mufflers deteriorate and plug up as well.
There are other possible issues but these are where to begin.

Sound like it could be the purge valve, it is located between the cab and the box on the drivers side, it has a plug and a hose going to it. It has a small foam filter in it which must be removed, cleaned, dried and then reinstalled.
It happened to me.
I don't remember if I had to remove the neg. post off the battery for a minute or so to reset the fault code.

Exhaust filter

Particulate filters are self cleaning. If the warning light comes on, you will need to take a long drive every so often to get the filter hot (It is a built-in part of the exhaust system.) Some models will also dump extra fuel int the system to help ignite the soot buildup and assist to "clean' the filter.
You need do nothing else; just get it really hot for a while each time the warning comes up. If you ignore it and do only short trips, it will clog up and need replacement.
