I believe on most Ford with automatic 4x4, there is an electric servo that acuates when you want to go into 4x4 or take it out. That could be a good possibility of your problem. It is normally located on the front transfer case. Good luck.

More than likely it is probably the servo. Switches don't tend to go bad that often unless they are a switch that is used a lot, ie; window or door lock switch. You will have to check power to the switch and the servo. My best guest would be the servo itself.

Have a bad earth connection has management light comes on and emissions are high can you help

the most likeley cause of your problem is a faulty lambda sensor.why do you think it is a bad earth? get someone with a obd 2 code reader to extract the fault codes out of the engine control module, that will help to diagnose the problem. there are 4 sensors 2 for each bank of cylinders, could be 1 or more of them , hope this helps.

My ABS light, Traction light, and service 4 wheel drive light are staying on, on my 2011 Dodge 1500. What causes this and how do you fix it?

If you can't diagnose any problem with parts involved, you should scan the computer of your car. to get an answer. Might be some problem, bad sensors, a circuit problem or even tha proper computer.

Codes p0700,p0733,p0734 dodge caravan 1997

P0700 is a informative transmission code, about some problem there; the P0733 and P0734 is the specific problem there.
I would first try changing the fluid and filter. Although the fluid may look like it is brand new, with 100K on the fluid, I can assure you that even if those miles were all highway at steady speed and no load that the fluid has deteriorated and no longer lubricating the internal parts properly and that there is some debris in the ******.If codes return and shifting problems are still present, there is definite internal failure, possibly the pump or in the clutches.
DTC P0733The powertrain control module (PCM) uses the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor, input speed sensor (ISS) and output speed sensor (OSS) to determine engine speed, input shaft speed and output shaft speed. These sensor readings are used to determine the current gear ratio and RPM slip across the torque converter. The PCM uses this information from the sensors to determine if the commanded gear matches the actual gear. During normal driving conditions, the PCM will adapt main line pressure via the pressure control (PC) solenoid to prevent slipping and harsh shifts. Shift solenoid 3 is used to apply or release third gear clutch. The PCM controls 3rd gear by controlling the ground for shift solenoid 3. The PCM will turn the solenoid OFF, open the driver circuit, when 3rd gear is commanded On to apply 3rd clutch. Shift solenoid 3 is supplied ignition voltage from the fuel pump relay whenever the PCM commands the fuel pump relay ON. DTC P0733 sets when 3rd clutch still slips after the PCM has commanded high main line pressure.DTC Parameters
DTC P0733 will set if the PCM detects an incorrect actual 3rd gear ratio when 3rd gear is commanded On when:- The condition exists for longer than 3 seconds (2001)*- The condition exists for longer than 3 seconds, 1 minute is allowed to elapse, then condition exists again for longer than 3 seconds (2000)- The high main line pressure has been commanded- The transaxle is in a forward gear- The input speed is greater than 224 RPM- The vehicle speed is greater than 5 km/h (3 mph)- The speed noise parameter = NO- The steady state ratio fail counter equals 255 for an in-gear failure, or the shift fail counter is greater than 100 on a downshift or upshift to 3rd gear (128=0 or normal operation)DTC P0733 diagnostic runs continuously once the above conditions have been met.
DTC P0733 is a type A DTC for 2000, type B for 2001.**Applicable to vehicles built after June 2000.
Diagnostic AidsImportant: If DTCs P0745, P0746, P0756, P0758, P0761, P0763, P0766, P0768 or P0789 is set, diagnose that DTC first. A diagnosed PC solenoid, shift solenoid 2, 3 or 4 low/high circuit fault DTC may have caused DTC P0733 to set.Important: If a shift solenoid performance DTC P0783, 4th gear stuck ON, is set, diagnose that DTC first. A 4th gear stuck ON may cause no 3rd gear, no 2nd gear, or TCC stuck Off.
Refer to Pressure Ports - Air Check and Parts Description for pressure apply points and for component/location description.
Possible causes of no 3rd gear are listed in the flowchart on the succeeding page.
Verify TRANSMISSION ISS and TRANSMISSION OSS read correctly on Scan tool.
Make sure the pressure control, shift 2, shift 3 and shift 4 solenoids are not intermittently sticking. A sticking shift solenoid 4 may cause 4th gear to be applied from an initial start resulting in no 3rd gear. Audible sound should be similar for all solenoids. A muffled tone indicates the need for replacement.
Check this pinout HERE
P0734 refer at ratio 4 gear, and the rocedure is the same.
Hope helps.

Black smoke and high gas comsumption

This sure sounds like a "rich" condition. Meaning the engine is receiving too much fuel from the fuel injection system or the carburetor, depending what type of fuel delivery system you have and the year of the vehicle. A rich condition most always causes excess carbon (black smoke) and high gas consumption. A common cause of this on later model vehicles with fuel injection is a bad fuel pressure regulator allowing too much fuel to enter the throttle body. Many pressure regulators are connected directly to the fuel rail running along the topside of the engine. It's about 2-3 inchs round and has a vacuum port on top of it. If it is easliy accessable, pull the vacuum hose off of it and see if the engine idle speed stays the same, also check for any unwanted fuel inside the vacuum hose. If those 2 conditions exsist, chances are you have a bad fuel regulator.

Carbureted vehicles are another story. They have a float and a needle & seat assembly inside which sometimes get stuck or dirty, allowing too much fuel to enter the engine. Both of these parts are deep inside carburetor and are best left to a professional technician to diagnose. One last thought. A bad oxygen sensor (O2 sensor) will sometimes cause a rich condition. But if an O2 sensor goes bad, it is usually accompanied by a "check engine" light coming on.
If your check engine light is not on, it's probably is not the sensor. Hope this helps some, good luck..

2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee... Overheated and the 'trans overheat' light came on. When I popped the hood the coolant res was bubbling. I let it cool down and parked it overnight, when I started it, it was...

You can no longer use the vehicle, common sense

Sounds like either the thermostat stuck closed, the cooling
fans failed to come on, or you have a bad head gasket.

You do know that the engine is overheading and has to
be diagnosed and that issue repaired

That Trans Issues, you work on after the engine overheating.

Even if the trans is okey, you will need to change the
fluid,not flush it.

Check engine light code P0172. I have been having the computer reset with oil change place so the check engine light goes off and usually stays off for a long time. Finally, the light came on and then...

The code you mention, P0172 - Fuel Trim Malfunction - System Too Rich (Bank 1)
The engine is a 2.0 lit (4 cylinder). Have you checked to see if the vehicle's powertrain is still under warranty (to include fuel system problems)? If original owner & under 100,000 miles, it may very well be under the powertrain warranty. Check with your nearest Hyundai Dealership & ask the appropriate questions.

My experience with this particular Fuel Trim Malfunction:

1. Clogged engine air filter restricting proper intake air flow
2. Leaky fuel injectors
3. Fuel pressure too high
4. Faulty MAF (Mass Air Flow Meter/Sensor).
5. Faulty TPS (Throttle Position Sensor).
6. Faulty Intake Air Temperature Sensor (IAT)
7. Faulty Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (ECT).

These causes are only offered as a place to start looking/diagnosing -- NOT intended to cause you to start throwing money after engine parts which may not be the cause -- have it properly diagnosed (probably under warranty).

Hope this helps.

The switch to engage 4 wheel drive is not working.

No the switch is okay there is a transfer case control module that blinks tose lights when there is a problem. You need to fing a compatible scan tool and get the codes from the transfer case controller to diagnose the fault otherwise it will just stay in 2WD.

High idle on my 1999 Saturn SL1. The mechanical screw on the idle cam is at its minimum. The car idles at 13-1500 rpms .

Clean the Idle Air Control Valve. It's on the throttle body below the Throttle Position Sensor. Worked for me! Good luck.
